It has been quite a while since my last magic Monday update, I know is Wednesday but this blog was in dire need of a status report.
Now, for the good news, the 52 book in 52 weeks challenge is still working like clockwork, I´m already full on book number 30, by the way this is week number 27,and as tradition dictates for the Christmas break, my focus will be on some Star Wars Books that have been sitting in me shelf, the first is Dark Nest, set some 35 years after the Battle of Yavin, the newly form Galactic Alliance faces yet another challenge, having recently survive the invasion of the deadly Yuuzhan Vong. I love this novels from the Legends side of this vast universe, the twin Jedi brothers, Jaina and Jacen Solo, are some of the coolest characters in Star Wars, to bad they are not part of the canon.
Now let’s talk about MY NUMBERS, the current total is 30,666 of the 64,952 pages of this year’s goal, that’s 3,454 registered pages more than last update. I’m so happy the 30,000-page milestone was finally reach. I have the next stepping stone, 40,000 pages, ahead of me, that according to my projections, it should be reach by January 17, 2022.
The end of the year projection of total pages lost a bit of ground, right now is at 56,401 pages, 188 less pages than the last update. My reading schedule, which keeps me up at night, is now 27 days behind, this is a 4 day gain, this is something I have been struggling with, but as with everything, one step at a time.
I started week 27 with a deficit of 5,530 pages, and a total 6,572 pages to get back to balance, now the challenge is to keep the monthly quota streak going, for December, there’s still 2,143 pages left, this is even before thinking of reading the 6,374 pages to reach my really ambitious 10,000-page December.
Now, for the first 500,000 pages, I have only 118,760 pages left, and the new date of reaching that goal is February 1, 2026, a whole month earlier than the last projection, still my sights are pointed at March 20, 2023 as the desired date to reach the first half of the challenge, that gap narrowed from 1,077 to 1,050 days behind schedule.
The second part of the journey, or the other 500,000 pages, the weekly average needed is now 1,793 with a daily average of 256 pages, since the last projections, the daily average dropped 4 pages per day.
Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight, the projections puts it 7,826 days away, a 78 day gain from the last projection, making the end date is May 27, 2043, that’s 4,374days after the original plan, 55 days less that the last projection. In spite of everything, I managed to edge closer to 2042, with my eye on the prize of the coveted end date of 2031, and the very special trip to close-out the final pages of my journey.
To summary the numbers from my Journey Back.
- Pages to reach 500,000: 118,760 pages
- Days to reach 1,000,000: 7,826 days
- Days behind schedule: 4,374 days
Let’s shoot for a 10,000-page December.
