(Y-11) 100th season of the NFL

Today kicks off the 100th season of the NFL.

As I remember how long it has been part of my life, I realized that it is been year 32 , almost 1/3 of it’s existence.

As I sit here wondering how my team, the Indianapolis Colts, will fair this season, I will enjoy the classic rivalry between the Chicago Bears and the Green Bay Packers.

It is Mr. Rodgers magic versus the defensive might of Khalil Mack.

What and amazing season we have ahead of us.

Off to see football, then to read.

(Y-11) 49 days

I read 130 pages yesterday.

That gives me a total of 41,505 pages, and 11,495 pages to reach my final goal.

Today will be a Dragonero and Dylan Dog kind of day, I’ll try to relax because we have a big week ahead of us, but more on that as the week progress.

On another note, I love football almost as much as reading, let’s say it is a close second, and my team, the Indianapolis Colts, announced the surprising retirement of star quaterback Andrew Luck.

This is really sad, but I get it, he has being battling serious injuries, which didn’t let him go out and play at his full potential.

I’ll miss seeing him in blue every Sunday.

But the coolest thing about Andrew Luck is outside football, he has an amazing book club, in which each month he has a new book challenge.

With a bit of sadness, I am off to read.

(Y-11) Into a Trance

Today marks the end of the NFL playoffs, it is one weekend off, and on the 3rd of February, it is the big game, the Superbowl.

I am not that invested on the game, but I do want to watch it, it will be my 32 consecutive years enjoying the game, it was Superbowl XXI, the New York Giants defeated the Denver Broncos.

So now I’ll go into a significant reading trance.

Firstly, to finish Deadhouse Gates by Friday morning, currently on page 520, and picking up the pace.

This is because, at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, I’ll start the 24in48 readathon, in order to match the official starting time, which is 12:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time, I have to begin at this hour because I am on the Mountain Standard Time, that is 2 hours behind, and on Sunday I should wrap up by 9:59 p.m.

I intend to start reading Gauntlgrym, part of The Legend of Drizzt saga, as the inaugural book of this my second readathon. Hence the need to finish with Deadhouse Gates.

I am gathering my other material for reading, which is comprised mainly of digital and printed graphic novels and comics.

And just to close out this post and get back to reading, I’ll like to say that my total for yesterday was 94 pages.

Clawing my way back slowly.

Back to it then.

(Y-11) Between pages and football

As I said on my previous posts, the main focus for these days is to finish Deadhouse Gates.

So, that means reading 26 pages per day.

The idea is to read that number of pages, and then throw in some graphic novels in between.

Today this has been shared with some NFL playoffs action, from which I am sad to say, my team, the Indianapolis Colts, were eliminated by the Kansas City Chiefs, so now I’ll just enjoy the rest of the games.

Right now I have read 11 of the 26 pages, I’ll pick up the rest between plays.

Happy Readings!!!

(Y-11) Five out of Five

Yesterday was yet another great day in several aspects.

First of all my team, the Indianapolis Colts prevailed in their playoff game over the Houston Texans with a score of 21 to 7 and lived to play another day, that is against the Kansas City Chiefs next Saturday.

In between watching all of the NFL action, which continues again today, I managed to also read, my total for yesterday was 181 pages.

I finished the first volume of the hilarious series Quantum & Woody, part of the Valiant Comics Universe, it was a breath of fresh air from more serious series I have been reading.

Here is the infographic sheet generated with Bookly.

With this graphic novel, my total page count for the year went up, and it is currently 10,331 pages, and I am now only 15 days behind my reading schedule, which I know that that gap will drastically be reduced with the 24in48 readathon.

Also, the streak of reading more than 146 has extended to 5 days out of 5 days of January, and it can be traced back to the first day of December of last year, so that gives me 36 consecutive days of excellent reading.

On the book front, I reached page 273, and of the planned 56 pages to read yesterday I only read 21.

My plan remains solid to finish Deadhouse Gates by next Saturday, so my page count for today must be 61 pages.

I have put two new graphic novels on my queue, this time it is volumes three and four on the extraordinary series from Valiant Comics, Shadowman, written respectively by Justin Jordan and the legendary Peter Milligan.

Just by looking at the covers I am excited.

Today will be pretty similar as yesterday, watch some football, eat, stay in my cozy bed and of course read some fantastic stories.

Happy Readings and enjoy your Sunday.

For us in Ciudad Juarez will be a cloudy one.
