Numbers: January 2, 2023

As far as my New Year´s resolutions go, the main one is to reinstall the Magic Monday posts, also known as my weekly update, so let’s begin this year by getting back to a much-needed rhythm.

I’m coming off an 8-day marathon, which gave me a little boost to get this year’s reading back on track, from the proposed 15 items on the list, I got thru 10 of them, giving a total of 1,942 pages for the whole marathon, just had to make a few modifications to the list, a couple of volumes of the manga series Attack on Titan were already on my read list, you can see the list below. The items left unread will be part of this week’s TBR pile.

  • Blood of Elves
  • The Time of Contempt
  • Baptism of Fire
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: IDW Collection Vol. 3
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: IDW Collection Vol. 4
  • Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: IDW Collection Vol. 5
  • Books of Magic (2018-) Vol.2
  • Books of Magic (2018-) Vol.3
  • The Dreaming (2018-) Vol.2
  • The Dreaming (2018-) Vol.3
  • Happiness Vol.1
  • Attack on Titan Vol.7
  • Attack on Titan Vol.8
  • DC/Young Animal: Milk Wars
  • Knights of Sidonia Vol. 1

Now let’s talk about MY NUMBERS, the current total is 26,741 of the 64,952 pages of this year’s goal, which a pretty good progress, with this, I’m closer to making this year enter my top 5 of the best page total. Still, there’s the 3,000-plus week that eludes me, but there are glimpses of hope, there’s only a matter of time that this too shall fall.

My reading schedule, the Achilles heel of the whole shebang, is a whopping 60 days behind, this gives me the focus to pick up the pace, because my current projections put my total around 47,000 pages that’s almost 20,000 pages less than what I’m comfortable with. The mantra for every morning will continue to be: one step at a time, one page at a time.

I start week thirty-one with a whopping deficit of 10,435 pages, given my quite the challenge to balance out this gargantuan number in each of the 21 weeks left on this year of reading. That number for this week is 580 additional pages to the 1,246 pages for each week.

For the first 500,000 pages, I have only 56,883 pages left, and the new date of reaching that goal is October 31,2024 that’s around 2 months days earlier than the last projection, my sights are still pointed at March 20, 2023, as the desired date to reach the first half of the challenge, now I have 78 days to do so, but according to my current projection, the reality is that I’m 592 days behind schedule.

The second part of the journey, or the other 500,000 pages, my weekly pages needed are now 1,452 with a daily average of 207 pages, four daily pages less than the last projection.

Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight, the projections put it 6,535 days away, a 229-day gain from the last projection, making the end date is November 23, 2040, that’s 3,459 days after the original plan, 75 days less that the last projection. I have to keep reminding myself that my goal is to reach my goal by my 50th birthday, right now, I would be 59 years 5 months, and 18 days old.

To summarize the numbers from my Journey Back.

  • Pages to reach 500,000: 56,883 pages
  • Days to reach 1,000,000: 6,535 days
  • Days behind schedule: 3,459 days

Off to read.
