Welcome to another Magic Monday, it was a bit of a slow week, but some progress was made.
My challenge of 52 books in 52 weeks challenge is way ahead of schedule, starting week number 35, I’m ready books number 41, Rosa la Sanguinaria by Nicholas Eames, currently on page 185 of 533.The one short story a day challenge is enjoying a 37-day streak. I have only 7 short stories left in The Crow: Shattered Lives & Broken Dreams, and for my next collection, a selection by Neil Gaiman, all revolving around magical creatures.
Now let’s talk about MY NUMBERS, the current total is 40,802 of the 64,952 pages of this year’s goal, that’s 715 registered pages more than last update.Still focusing on the next step, 50,000 pages. The next 28 days are crucial to get back on track. Not to be pessimistic, but it feels like a “make it or break it” situation.
The end of the year projection of total pages suffered a bit of a set back, currently, is at 59,026 pages, 616 pages less than the last update. My reading schedule is now 24 days behind, this is a 3 day loss from my last update. I keep on sticking to my mantra, one step at a time, one page at a time.
I start week 35 with a deficit of 4,211 pages, and a total 5,457 pages to get back to balance, this week came short by 235 pages. The total for the month of February, which is 4,984 pages, is now 2,954 pages, representing almost a 60% in two weeks, I needed to keep on grinding away.
For the first 500,000 pages, I have only 108,621 pages left, and the new date of reaching that goal is October 29, 2025, that’s 3 days earlier than the last projection, my sights are still pointed at March 20, 2023 as the desired date to reach the first half of the challenge, that gap narrowed from 948 to 945 days behind schedule.
The second part of the journey, or the other 500,000 pages, my weekly pages needed are now 1,710 with a daily average of 244 pages, a 1 page a day drop from the last projection.
Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight, the projections puts it 7,583 days away, a 11 day gain from the last projection, making the end date is November 19, 2042, that’s 4,185 days after the original plan, 4 days less that the last projection. I broke the streak of these passed few weeks of a month of time gained, still, my eye on the prize of the coveted end date of 2031, and the very special trip to close-out the final pages of my journey.
To summary the numbers from my Journey Back.
- Pages to reach 500,000: 108,621 pages
- Days to reach 1,000,000: 7,583 days
- Days behind schedule: 4,185 days
