36,453 years before the Battle of Yavin

To continue with my Star Wars readathon, a very productive day with 192 total pages for the day so far, I’ll delve into a story-arc of the origin of the mythical Jedi Order.

Although this story, written by John Ostrander and Jan Duursema, is no longer part of the current canon, it has always eluded me, and now that I found a Spanish reprint, the opportunity to read it coincided perfectly with this joyous marathon.

Now to face the snowy mountains of Ando Prime, and the calling of the Force in its raw form.

Final three days of the Star Wars readathon

To be completely honest, I wasn’t expecting such an amazing result in both the quality and the quantity of my reading for this readathon.

I love Star Wars, but the last three movie were a bit off from the essence of what made me keep going back to this universe, these being said, the printed part is just simply amazing.

Either the Canon part or the now dubbed Legends series, each and every story is at the least fun.

My biggest surprise so far has been the book Yoda: Dark Rendezvous, I was expecting an action pack Clone Wars story, but much to my delight, there are some really moving parts involving the 900 year old Jedi Master.

One of the series that was on my radar was the second series of Darth Vader, here in Mexico it was printed alongside other miniseries like Captain Phasma and Mace Windu, written by Charles Soule, it delves into his rise to the Dark Side, the first particular story-arc follows his quest to obtain his mythical crimson bladed lightsaber.

Today, I’ll continue my journey thru the Dark Side, and hopefully, my day will be as productive as yesterday, I had a total of 534 pages and reached 3,538 of the 5,000 goal of total pages for this readathon.

To star off the morning, let’s go back to the Old Republic era and see the ancient Sith try to establish their iron fist rule over the galaxy, all of this with some coffee and cookies.

Numbers: May 21, 2021

Yesterday was a crazy busy day, finish class at 9:15 p.m., and the only thing I wanted was some booze and some snooze, hence the late post. I have only 4 days left of the three-week long Star Wars reading marathon ,the amazing results keep on piling on , this includes a total of 3,004 pages, three books, 8 graphic novels, and hopefully by the end of this weekend, close to 20 comic books.

Now for the thing we are here for, an update off my progress for the last week’s reading.

My current total is 21,423 of the 37, 984 pages of this year’s goal, and I have 17 days left on this year I still have the pipe dream of at least 25,000 total pages by the time the dust settles.

In not so good news, my reading schedule fell even more behind , from 86 days to 89 days, hopefully it will stay the same for this last two weeks of reading, being this a sign that my total pages for the week is more than 1,200 pages, perfect to reach the “participation trophy” total for this year.

The projections for total pages for the year sits at 23,064, a whopping 6 page improvement from last week, well at least it did not go down, and I can put it on the win column for this week

On the broader picture, my numbers show some shallows breaths of improvement, still, I keep chipping away days and pages .

The new date for reaching my first 500,000 pages, now down to 153,034 pages and improvement of 680 from last week, and the new date is December 16, 2026, a 2 day gain from last week, I’ll take any little step that gets me closer to the original end date of March 20, 2023, every day counts.

Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight the projections puts it 8,680 days away, a 13 day gain from last week, which would mean that the end date is February 25, 2045, that’s 5,014 days after the original plan, 5 days less that last week, I am really grateful that this particular projection always shows improvement, it gives hope that this is still reachable .

To summary the numbers from my Journey Back, here are this week’s final numbers:

  • Pages to reach 500,000: 153,034 pages (680 pages less than last week)
  • Days to reach 1,000,000: 8,680 days (13 days less than last week)
  • Days behind schedule: 5,014 days (5 days less than last week)

What concerns the next decade of reading, this week’s adjustment show a bit of improvement on my yearly average and my daily average stayed the same, they finish like this:

  • Pages needed/year: 65,303 (68 pages less than last week)
  • Pages needed/day: 179 (same as last week)

I’ll continue with reading some great adventures from one of my favorite universes, and hopefully next week will be twice as productive as this one, the pile of comic books on my nightstand predict that it will be.

Second week of the Star Wars readathon

I am about to close-out the second week , and start off the last week of my extremely fun Star Wars readathon.

And they have been really productive, I have read so far 2 books, both in the Old Republic era, 8 graphic novels, these all over the timeline, and thanks to this, I have a total of 2,681 pages.

And to make this final week even more special, I received the shipping confirmation of the massive purchase I made on May the 4th, which include 20 single issues and 2 graphic, all Star Wars stories of course, apparently it will arrive on Friday, just in perfect time to close-out this all ready successful readathon with a bang.

In the meantime, I’ll try to finish the current book on deck, Yoda-Dark Rendezvous, and the two remaining Old Republic graphic novels, Blood of the Empire and The Lost Suns.

I’ll keep on pushing for those 5,000 total pages for these readathon, which has now became officially part of the recurrent events for my reading project.

Morning goals

I have started this Monday morning with a lot of energy, must be the five coffee cups racing around my bloodstream, the point is that I’ll take advantage of this jittery energy and get some reading done.

As I checked my goal for May, 6,300 pages, on Bookly I tough that it is doable.

Maybe is the caffeine talking, but 3,577 pages in 14 days seems like the type of challenge for me.

So, to start off this week’s reading, I’ll continue on a galaxy far, far away, with a story of Master Yoda and the raging Clone Wars.

Off to read.

21 days

I have exactly three weeks left on my reading year, which also means that I’ll be turning 40.

I have already prep next year’s notebook, a beautiful black page Bullet journal from Notebook Therapy, my current reading spurt is turning up some amazing numbers.

That will help me jump right into an intense decade of reading, that for the look of it will require around 65,000 pages per year to reach the golden prize of 1,000,000 page by my 50th birthday.

To close out this amazing year of reading in style , I have but two goals, reach 25,000 total pages, and line up next year’s reading material, which will be a genre that I have not explored that much, Science Fiction.

Off to read.

My current total is 20,743 of the 37, 984 pages of this year’s goal, and with 24 days left on this year of reading I still have the goal of at least 25,000 pages when its over.

In neutral news, my reading schedule stayed exactly the same, 86 days behind , hopefully it will stay like this, preferably I can get the number down, by some miraculous event; but as long as it stays the same, more than happy.

The new date for reaching my first 500,000 pages, now down to 153,174 pages and improvement of 1,071 from last week, and the new date is December 18, 2026, a 1 day gain from last week, I’ll take any little step that gets me closer to the original end date of March 20, 2023, every day counts.

Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight the projections puts it 8,693 days away, a 28 day gain from last week, which would mean that the end date is March 2, 2045, and 5,019 days after the original plan, 21 days less.

To summary the numbers from my Journey Back, here are this week’s final numbers:

  • Pages to reach 500,000: 153,174 pages (1,071 pages less than last week)

  • Pages needed/day: 179 (same as last week)

I’ll continue with reading some great adventures from one of my favorite universes, and hopefully next week will be as productive as this one

First week of the Star Wars readathon

I am about to close out the first week of anything and everything Star Wars.

And I must say that the results are quite satisfactory, 1 book and 3 graphic novels finished , 1,363 total pages, and a massive order of single issues Darth Vader comic books on the way, this can only get better.

In the meantime, I’ll continue working on a couple of things already on my digital library, on the Book front, I’ll continue in the Old Republic with Paul S. Kemp’s Deceived.

On the graphic novel front, I fast forward to the days before the beginning of the prequel trilogy with The Rise of the Sith, following the adventures of Qui-Gon Jinn and his padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi, with some appearances of members of the Jedi Council, and whispers of a phantom menace.

Now to get 5,000 pages in these readathon to finish this year on a high note.

4 weeks

To think that in just four weeks a lot of things will come tumbling down, including but no limited to, my 40th birthday, the end of the 13th year of reading, the start of a new year of reading, and more importantly the beginning of the final decade of my 1,000,000-page journey.

The road ahead for me is, for this year is to at least pass the 25,000-page mark, and in the long haul, organizing years of more than 60,000 pages for each one.

One of the challenges for the upcoming years is to amass the sheer amount of reading materials to have enough pages to reach the golden prize.

I should make an inventory to see how many pages I have available in my library, last time I checked there were around 100,000 eager pages waiting to be read.

I see all my future birthday gifts being books.

Numbers: May 7,2021

My three-week long Star Wars reading marathon is in full swing, and its paying off with some amazing dividets, more than 800 pages in only 3 days, last week I didn’t update, because there was nothing to update.

That being said let me update you on my progress for these two weeks of reading.

My current total is 19,672 of the 37, 984 pages of this year’s goal, and with 31 days left on this year of reading the main goal is to have the best possible starting point for the upcoming years,

In not so good news, once again I have fallen even more behind my reading schedule, it went from 82 to 86 days , hopefully this reading surge will help me gain a bit of room to finish strong.

The projections for total pages for the year sits at 22,604, that’s a 302 improvement from last week, this type of positive numbers are great motivators to take the final weeks and finish at least 1,000 pages over that projection.

On the broader picture, my numbers show some signs of life, I keep chipping away days and pages to read.

This is most evident on the dates for reaching my first 500,000 pages, the pages to read are now 154,784, that’s 1,778 from the last update, and the new date is December 19, 2026, a 19 day gain from two weeks ago, I have finally enter year 2026, a step closer to the original end date of March 20, 2023, every day counts.

Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight the projections puts it 8,721 days away, a 33 day gain from two weeks ago, which would mean that the end date is March 23, 2045, and 5,040 days after the original plan, 20 days less.

To summary the numbers from my Journey Back, here are this week’s final numbers:

  • Pages to reach 500,000: 154,785 pages (1,476 pages less than two weeks ago)
  • Days to reach 1,000,000: 8,721 days (33 days less than two weeks ago)
  • Days behind schedule: 5,040 days (20 days less than two weeks ago)

What concerns the next decade of reading, this week’s adjustment show a bit of improvement on both my yearly and daily average, they finish like this:

  • Pages needed/year: 65,470 (147 pages less than two weeks ago)
  • Pages needed/day: 179 (1 less than two weeks ago)

I’ll continue with reading some great adventures from one of my favorite universes, and hopefully next week will be as productive as this one
