Is it Monday again? This last few weeks have been passing me really quickly, fortunately, this has not affected my reading progress.

For the third week in a row my reading has come out in green number, this has giving me a positive balance of pages, 952 to be precise, this. Once again I finished my weekly book early, this week’s book was the final chapter of the Saga of the Seven Suns, The Ashes of Worlds, which I posted earlier how this amazing saga finish. Today I should start the eight book of the year, Exhalación by the four time Hugo award winner Ted Chiang, as with the previous books of this year of reading, trying to make it a tradition, I am well under way with its reading, currently on page 239 of 345, not a bad way to start the week.

Now let’s get down to business, my current total is 9,704 of the 64,952 pages of this year’s goal, that’s 1,184 more than last week, it’s a bit under the 1,246 pages projected for each week, but this are registered pages not net pages, you can find a quick explanation about this concepts here, still the long term focus is to make the last five years a little bit more accessible, having a minimal total under 50,000 pages for each year.

For the passed two weeks I have been making a mistake when it came to my projection for the total at the end of the year . Last week was at 63,999 pages, but that was only the pages I could potentially read from that point, the real total that I already have wasn’t being sum-up to this quantity, correcting this little mistake my projected total jumped to 71,033 total pages, that’s almost 7,000 pages over my goal of the year. My reading schedule stayed pretty much the same , now it is 5 days ahead , at one point in the middle of the week I was 7 days ahead, but with the weekend being full of power naps, my reading when down a little bit.

My main focus is always the broader picture, and so far this year, each and every week my numbers show the kind of momentum that was lacking from passed years .This is reflected directly on the amount of pages I have to read on the second part of my journey, specially on trying to have the average per week under 2,000 pages, right now it sits sits at 1,955 pages per week with a daily average of 279 pages, this is still a titanic endeavor, but each week the task becomes more feasible.

On the first 500,000 pages, I have only 139,719 pages left, and the new date of reaching that goal is July 13, 2026, 12 days sooner than last week, still my sights are pointed at March 20, 2023 as the desired date to reach the first half of the challenge, the magic numbers are 3,000 days to read and a daily average of 170 pages.

Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight, the projections puts it 8,301 days away, a 30 day gain from the last week, making the end date is April 17, 2044, that’s 4,700 days after the original plan, 23 days less that the last projection, this kind of gigantic leaps gives me the momentum to keep on pushing to reach that coveted goal. The goal is to each and every week bring down the end date by at least 1 month.

To summary the numbers from my Journey Back.

  • Pages to reach 500,000: 139,719 pages
  • Days to reach 1,000,000: 8,301 days
  • Days behind schedule: 4,700 days

Numbers Monday is definitely my new favorite day of the week, and to celebrate, let’s day drink.

Is it time again for my Monday weekly update.

And for the second week in a row my reading was far greater that I expected. Once again I finished my weekly book before the Sunday deadline, this week’s book, Ashes of Worlds, the last volume on the Saga of the Seven Suns, is well under way, currently on page 108, not bad considering I should have started today , each week there’s some room to breath and perform better that the last.

Now let’s get down to business, my current total is 8,520 of the 64,952 pages of this year’s goal, that’s 1,811 more than last week, giving me a surplus of 565 pages on the 1,246 pages projected for each week, this will add-up at the long term to reach the goal of the year, but most importantly it will contribute to make the next year’s total a little bit more accessible, being the goal that the last five years having a minimal total under 50,000 pages for each year.

With this surge of reading my projection for the total at the end of the year jumped 2,500 pages from last week’s projection and now sits at 63,999 pages, only 949 pages away from the ultimate goal for this year. My reading schedule gained a little bit of room , now it is 5 days ahead , exactly as I wanted to be at the start of this week.

The current pace keeps impacting in a huge way the broader picture, each and every week my numbers show the kind of momentum. I keep a particular inquisitive eye on the number of pages I’m going to have to read on the second part of my journey, and as last week the number is under 2,000 pages, with a improvement of 216 pages, the current weekly total sits at 1,778 pages per week with an daily average of 281 pages, this is still a titanic endeavor, but each week the task becomes more feasible.

Speaking of the first 500,000 pages, I have only 140,903 pages left, and the new date of reaching that goal is July 25, 2026, 24 days sooner than last week, still my sights are pointed at March 20, 2023 as the desired date to reach the first half of the challenge, the magic numbers are 3,000 days to read and a daily average of 170 pages.

Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight, the projections puts it 8,331 days away, a 47 day gain from the last week, making the end date is May 10, 2044, that’s 4,723 days after the original plan, 40 days less that the last projection, this kind of gigantic leaps gives me the momentum to keep on pushing to reach that coveted goal. For me this numbers are of particularly importance, there are the endgame of these whole deal, and until the numbers of days behind are in red, I will not rest.

To summary the numbers from my Journey Back.

  • Pages to reach 500,000: 140,903 pages
  • Days to reach 1,000,000: 8,331 days
  • Days behind schedule: 4,723 days

I think that with numbers like this each week, Monday will become my favorite day of the week.

Is Monday again and that can only mean my weekly update.

And what an amazing week it was, last week book, Of Fire and Night, was finish by Friday, this week’s book, Metal Swarm, which I suppose to start today is already on page 187, everything is falling into place, with a bit of breathing room each week to go get those goals.

Now let’s get down to business, my current total is 6,709 of the 64,952 pages of this year’s goal, that’s 1,379 more than last week, my projected total for each week is 1,246, if each week I have a surplus, even the 133 pages of this week, this will add-up at the long and not only will I get the goal of the year, but I’ll contribute to making the next year total a little less, as I always say, one page at a time. The current projection for the total at the end of the year stay pretty much as last week number, 61,499 pages, still just below the target but getting closer.

My reading schedule it’s right on the money , I’am 1 day ahead on my reading, with some intense reading I would like to get it at least 5 days ahead of schedule.

Once again the current pace make the biggest impact on the broader picture, each and every week my numbers show the kind of momentum I expect, I keep a particular inquisitive eye on the number of pages I’m going to have to read on the second part of my journey, and for the first time it is finally under 2,000 pages, if only barely with 1,994 pages per week with an daily average of 285 pages, quite the titanic endeavor but I know that is doable.

On what concerns my first 500,000 pages, I have only 142,714 pages left, and the new date of reaching that goal is August 17, 2026, that’s 16 days sooner than last week, still my sights are pointed at March 20, 2023 as the desired date to reach the first half of the challenge, again, my goal is to have 3,000 days to read the other half, giving me an approximate daily average to read of 170 pages, one can hope and dream.

Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight, the projections puts it 8,585 days away, a 37 day gain from the last week, making the end date is June 26, 2044, that’s 4,770 days after the original plan, 30 days less that the last projection, this kind of gigantic leaps give me new breath to keep on pushing to reach that coveted goal. For me this numbers are of particularly importance, there are the endgame of these whole deal, and until the numbers of days behind are in red, I will not rest.

To summary the numbers from my Journey Back, here are the numbers that officially kick-off the new year of reading:

  • Pages to reach 500,000: 142,714 pages
  • Days to reach 1,000,000: 8,385 days
  • Days behind schedule: 4,770 days

I’ll keep my promise to each Monday update my numbers, and hopefully from now on they will be full of great leaps and great books.

I am determined not to let Monday’s go without posting how my reading week went, and let me tell you that I am really excited with this week’s result.

There’s finally a sense of rhythm in my progress, I have placed little goals thru-out the days so that the task at hand doesn’t feel monumental, more like little towards a bigger goal at the end of the day, well, this week it payed off tremendously.

Now let’s get down to business, my current total is 5,330 of the 64,952 pages of this year’s goal, that’s 2,054 more than last week, and the current projection for the total at the end of the year made a substantial leap from last week number and now sits at 61,938 pages, this not only improved more than 13,098 pages from last week, but it also puts a little under my goal of the year.

My reading schedule it’s right on the money , I’am 1 day ahead on my reading, its no surprise since I finish the fourth volume of the Saga of the Seven Suns, Scattered Suns, and started really early with the fifth volume, Of Fire and Night, and I am already on page 241 of 645, how early you may ask, my schedule marked the beginning of this volume for today, this is exactly how things should be moving along.

For this week I have finally achieved balance from what was supposed to be my total at the end of week four, for this week I have only to read the 178 pages total for each day, that’s 1,246 total pages by the end of the week, to keep my reading on track, but I’ll be aiming to average above 200 daily page to buy me some room in case of future lazy weeks.

My favorite thing about the current pace is how it reflects on some aspects of the broader picture, each and every week my numbers show the kind of momentum I expect, but what happen with the projections for reaching the golden prize was a pleasant surprise.

On what concerns my first 500,000 pages, I have only 144,093 pages left, and the new date of reaching that goal is September 1, 2026, that’s 19 days sooner than last week, still my sights are pointed at March 20, 2023 as the desired date to reach the first half of the challenge, this is thinking of having at least 3,000 days to read the other half, giving me an approximate daily average to read of 170 pages, close to my current daily average, which is challenging but doable.

Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight the projections puts it 8,422 days away, a 64 day gain from the last week, making the end date is July 26, 2044, that’s 4,800 days after the original plan, 58 days less that the last projection, this kind of gigantic leaps give me new breath to keep on pushing to reach that coveted goal, and as I said last week, the proximity of the calculations made it seem as a step back on my progress, good thing I didn’t panic.

To summary the numbers from my Journey Back, here are the numbers that officially kick-off the new year of reading:

  • Pages to reach 500,000: 144,093 pages
  • Days to reach 1,000,000: 8,422 days
  • Days behind schedule: 4,800 days

I’ll make a new tradition for the always dreaded Monday, and for me at least they will hopefully become day of great joy, full of books and caffeine.

Number: June 28, 2021 (ish)

I have been running a bit late with posting each week’s result, thankfully that has not been the case of my reading, because after 3 weeks of intense sessions this year is shaping up to be my best one yet.

My intention is to start posting on Monday the result of each week, this is to coincide with how I structured this year’s weeks, and to be perfectly honest, it is really helpful to close out each week with a beautiful lazy Sunday of reading.

Now let’s get down to business, my current total is 3,275 of the 64,952 pages of this year’s goal, the current projection for the total at the end of the year sits at 48,840 pages, this not only improved more than 4,000 pages from last week, but it also puts me over my best year by a solid 1,000 pages.

My reading schedule it’s a little behind , 5 days to be precise, but with the whopping results from the last 5 days, which include 3 days over 300 pages, and the challenge of reading one book per week is right on the money, I am closing in to the halfway point of this week’s book, Scattered Suns, and it’s only Tuesday, I like my chances of getting this straighten out by the time of my next report.

For this week I have to read an additional 82 pages, to the 178 pages total for each day, to balance out my laziness from the second week of year, that means that by the end of this week I should sum-up a total 1,820 in order to start next week’s without any back log, easily done.

My favorite thing about the current pace is how it reflects on some aspects of the broader picture, each and every week my numbers show the kind of momentum I expect, even if it’s on the negative side, as I said in past post, with the passing of each week my schedule tightens a little more, is of the utmost importance to keep the momentum to reach the golden prize.

On what concerns my first 500,000 pages, I have only 146,148 pages left, and the new date of reaching that goal is September 20, 2026, that’s 4 days sooner than the post, still my sights are pointed at March 20, 2023 as the desired date to reach the first half of the challenge, this is thinking of having at least 3,000 days to read the other half, giving me an approximate daily average to read of 170 pages, close to my current daily average, which is challenging but doable.

Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my shock the projections puts it 8,486 days away, a 7 day loss from the last post, making the end date is September 22, 2044, that’s 4,858 days after the original plan, 8 days more that the last projection, this kind of step back is what puts a dent on my overall progress, only for this time I’ll attribute it to the proximity of the calculations, and not start panicking just yet. .

To summary the numbers from my Journey Back, here are the numbers that officially kick-off the new year of reading:

  • Pages to reach 500,000: 146,148 pages
  • Days to reach 1,000,000: 8,486 days
  • Days behind schedule: 4,858 days

Let’s see on next Monday fairs on the broader picture, for now, I’ll enjoy this few rainy days over the desert.

I am at the tail end of the third week of this new year of reading, time thus fly when you’re having fun, and it is starting to gain forward momentum, I had a few rocky moments in week number two but apparently that’s behind me now, so testify the 300-page day from yesterday.

Now let me update the overall progress of the year, and more importantly where do I stand on the broader picture.

My current total is 2,454 of the 64,952 pages of this year’s goal, with more than 340 days left on this year, things are shaping up pretty good, I say good and not fantastic because the current projection for the total at the end of the year sits at 44,818 pages, a bit of work left to reach the almost 65,000 pages for the year, but the tendency is going on the right track.

My reading schedule it’s a little behind , 4 days to be precise, but with the current results of yesterday and how today is shaping up, and the fact that the challenge of reading one book per each week of the reading is right on the money, close in on the final quarter of Horizon Storms, I think the gap will close fairly quickly,

Starting next Monday, I will start posting each week progress, and finally comparing how things are gaining ground slowly but surely.

Now let’s talk about the broader picture, my numbers show the kind of momentum I expect to see each and every week moving forward, as times dwindles down to a tighter schedule this is of the utmost importance in order to reach the golden prize.

On what concerns my first 500,000 pages, I have only 146,969 pages left, and the new date of reaching that goal is October 3, 2026, that’s 48 days sooner than the last time I check, still my sights are pointed at March 20, 2023 as the desired date to reach the first half of the challenge, this is thinking of having at least 3,000 days to read the other half.

And speaking of the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight the projections puts it 8,479 days away, a 59 day gain from the last time I checked, making the end date is September 11, 2044, that’s 4,847 days after the original plan, 41 days less that the last projection, this kind of boost inject much needed energy to tackle on the next challenges.

To summary the numbers from my Journey Back, here are the numbers that officially kick-off the new year of reading:

  • Pages to reach 500,000: 146,969 pages
  • Days to reach 1,000,000: 8,479 days
  • Days behind schedule: 4,847 days

This numbers keep me motivated to try my best each and every week, and now that reaching the 1,000,000-page mark has an added bonus, well, that just sends my focus thru the roof. You may ask what’s that prize at the end of the road, I can only answer that in due time I’ll extensively share with you me plans.

The first week of this new year it’s officially done, that nervous energy it has been transformed into purpose.

Now, I almost hit both weekly goals, the first, read 1,246 pages,my total was 1,039 pages, just 207 pages shy of it, these are going to be distributed along the seven days of this new week.

The second goal, I hit it out of the park, finish the first book of the year, Hidden Empire, the first volume of the Saga of the Seven Suns, an amazing beginning to this science fiction saga.

For this week, as it will be for the next 50 weeks of this year of reading, I have two very specific goals, read this week’s book, the second volume of the Saga of Seven Suns, A Forest of Stars.

And secondly, I must read this week’s page quota, plus what was left over from last week, that will give 1,453 pages for this week.

Concerning the broader picture of my progress toward those mythical 1,000,000 pages, my next update will be on June 25, this with some pictures of my new beautiful black paged bullet journal.

My current total is 23,197 of the 37, 984 pages of this year’s goal, and I have 10 days left on this year, and as hope dies last the goal still is 25,000 pages.

In so so news, my reading schedule gained a little bit of ground , it changed from 89 days to 85 days behind, hopefully this last 10 days will be over-productive, and my participation prize

The projections for total pages for the year sits at 24,210 a much needed 1,146 page improvement from last week, a breath of fresh air from the embarrassing 6 page improvement from last week.

On the broader picture, my numbers show the kind of momentum I expect to see each and every week moving forward for the last decade of this part of my project, oh yes I have some grand plans for after the 1,000,000 but that

The new date for reaching my first 500,000 pages, now down to 151,260 pages, 1,774 less pages that last week, and the new date is November 21, 2026, this kind of gain, 26 days closer to my goal, make me think that the original end date of March 20, 2023, its an achievable goal .

Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight the projections puts it 8,626 days away, a 54 day gain from last week, which would mean that the end date is January 8, 2045, that’s 4,966 days after the original plan, 48 days less that last week, this kind of boost inject new life into my motivation.

To summary the numbers from my Journey Back, here are this week’s final numbers:

  • Pages to reach 500,000: 151,260 pages (1,774 pages less than last week)
  • Days to reach 1,000,000: 8,626 days (54 days less than last week)
  • Days behind schedule: 4,966 days (48 days less than last week)

What concerns the next decade of reading, this week’s adjustment show a bit of improvement on my yearly average and my daily average, they finish like this:

  • Pages needed/year: 65,126 (177 pages less than last week)
  • Pages needed/day: 178 (1 less than last week)

I’m aiming to at least be at the middle 64,000 pages to start off the next decade of reading, and of course keep on working to decrease it to under 50,000 pages for the last 5 years.

This week, which leads up to my birthday, is always a really productive, one of my annual gifts is peace and quiet, a book, lots of coffee, and new goodies to keep me on track, my beautiful wife always gets me the coolest things that end up being essential to my daily reading routine.

Yesterday was a crazy busy day, finish class at 9:15 p.m., and the only thing I wanted was some booze and some snooze, hence the late post. I have only 4 days left of the three-week long Star Wars reading marathon ,the amazing results keep on piling on , this includes a total of 3,004 pages, three books, 8 graphic novels, and hopefully by the end of this weekend, close to 20 comic books.

Now for the thing we are here for, an update off my progress for the last week’s reading.

My current total is 21,423 of the 37, 984 pages of this year’s goal, and I have 17 days left on this year I still have the pipe dream of at least 25,000 total pages by the time the dust settles.

In not so good news, my reading schedule fell even more behind , from 86 days to 89 days, hopefully it will stay the same for this last two weeks of reading, being this a sign that my total pages for the week is more than 1,200 pages, perfect to reach the “participation trophy” total for this year.

The projections for total pages for the year sits at 23,064, a whopping 6 page improvement from last week, well at least it did not go down, and I can put it on the win column for this week

On the broader picture, my numbers show some shallows breaths of improvement, still, I keep chipping away days and pages .

The new date for reaching my first 500,000 pages, now down to 153,034 pages and improvement of 680 from last week, and the new date is December 16, 2026, a 2 day gain from last week, I’ll take any little step that gets me closer to the original end date of March 20, 2023, every day counts.

Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight the projections puts it 8,680 days away, a 13 day gain from last week, which would mean that the end date is February 25, 2045, that’s 5,014 days after the original plan, 5 days less that last week, I am really grateful that this particular projection always shows improvement, it gives hope that this is still reachable .

To summary the numbers from my Journey Back, here are this week’s final numbers:

  • Pages to reach 500,000: 153,034 pages (680 pages less than last week)

  • Pages needed/year: 65,303 (68 pages less than last week)
  • Pages needed/day: 179 (same as last week)

I’ll continue with reading some great adventures from one of my favorite universes, and hopefully next week will be twice as productive as this one, the pile of comic books on my nightstand predict that it will be.

On the broader picture, my numbers show some signs of life, I keep chipping away days and pages to read.

The new date for reaching my first 500,000 pages, now down to 153,174 pages and improvement of 1,071 from last week, and the new date is December 18, 2026, a 1 day gain from last week, I’ll take any little step that gets me closer to the original end date of March 20, 2023, every day counts.
