(Y-11) I can almost taste it. (Day 22 of 31)

I am on a roll

Yesterday’s total was 152.

And I am inching closer to my goal for the Christmas break, that was set at 7,000 pages, from which I have 6,920.

Just 80 pages to reach my coveted goal and still 10 days left,  it is indeed the season to be jolly.

Let me talk about my reading for yesterday and my plan for the upcoming days, first I finished the first volume of Valiant Comics’ Bloodshot, what an incredible universe I stumble upon, this is the second volume on the list of reading order that supposedly tights to the whole storylines together, either way, it has been a trill reading it.

Next up are the two first volumes of X-O Manowar, By The Sword and Enter: Ninjak, written by Robert Venditti, for which I have high expectations because of his run on Hal Jordan and The Green Lantern Corps was phenomenal.

On the book front, Deadhouse Gates, I have been moving on a snail pace, currently, on page 44 of 699, I’ll try to make some headway in the mornings, but the climb has become a bit steeper to finish it by the end of the year, but as always, this is not a cause of concern, for the primary goal of my reading is to have fun.

But I do like to challenge myself.

Now back to it, Happy Readings!!!

(Y-11) Closing the gap (Day 21 of 31)….with a little of day’s 19 and 20.

Yesterday sleep got the best of me, and I could not post my reading progress for the day, so here it goes for two days.

First, December 19, in which the total was 232 pages.

Secondly, December 20, in which the total was 205 pages, this thanks to the first volume of my Valiant Comic Universe trek, The Harbinger, written by Joshua Dysart, was a great introduction to what it appears to be quite the ride, so, 1 down 87 to go in this vast universe.

With all this reading I have amounted 6,777 total pages for this year of reading, that is 223 pages to reach my goal for the end of December, and 3,223 pages to reach the first 10,000 pages of the year.

And on that note, and according to my preliminary calculation, today was the day marked for reaching the first 10,000 pages, I am 24 days behind, but that distance is shortening quite rapidly.

By the end of December, and with my average for this month, which is 184 pages per day, I’ll be closer to 9,000 pages and about 16 days behind, one step at a time.

The next significant milestone, and again this based on my first calculations, will be reaching 20,000 pages, which is marked for February 27, 2019, I think the readathon at the end of January will help significantly to reduce this gap.

I’ll work with this very present.

Just a moment ago, I updated my file were everything that is part of this crazy reading project is accounted for, and the total so far is 239,804 pages, just a little over 10,000 pages to reach the first 1/4 of my project.

This just motivates me to keep on pushing and trying to reach the monumental milestone, which it started over 10 years ago, with me a bit sad, sitting drinking coffee on a cold October morning and trying to find purpose and meaning.

Well let me tell you, I have found purpose, and it is comforting and reassuring that so many things have come over all these years just to enrich my reading experience and have given back my voice and draw a clear path of what I was supposed to be doing.

Now I’ll get back to enjoying my Christmas break and to keep on reading the second volume of The Malazan Book of the Fallen, Deadhouse Gates, currently on page 37 of 699.

Happy Readings !!!

(Y-11) Chasing those pages.

I was browsing through all of the titles available in my Kindle Unlimited account, and I stumble upon the great discovery that most of the Valiant Comics Universe are available to read for free.

So, my next inquiry was in what order to read them, and I stumble upon a fellow WordPress user with a really comprehensive list to read these amazing titles in order.

If you are interested you can find the post from So You May Follow.

I have approximately 90 trade paperbacks to go through.

I love it when only by chance you find a whole new universe to dwell on.

Happy Readings.

(Y-11) reasons to celebrate (day 19 of 31)

Today I have a lot of reasons to celebrate.

First of all, yesterday was yet again another great of reading, I managed to rack-up 192 pages, and that gives me 19 straight days with 146 pages (which is the daily average for the year) or more.

Secondly, after 66 days, I finally finished the first volume of The Malazan Book of Fallen Series, The Gardens of the Moon, this is a vast scope story, and the cast of characters, gods and places you get to experience is mind-boggling.

And it is my understanding that this world gets even more complex and broad in the second volume of the series, Deadhouse Gates, which I am going to dive right in.

As you will see, I am ready to go deep into the Holy Desert Raraku, and hopefully, I’ll escape the wrath of the Gods.

The final thing I would like to mention is that the goal for December is within reach, just 815 pages are on my way, so I’ll just keep on pushing and keep the flow going.

Now let’s do a quick recap of my numbers.

  • Total pages for (Y-11) : 6,185 pages.
  • Pages to go to achieve first milestone (10,000 pages): 3,815 pages.
  • Pages to go to achieve the main goal of the year (53,000 pages): 46,815 pages.
  • Pages to go to be the second-best year of reading (32,001 pages): 25,816 pages.
  • Pages to go to be the best year of reading (47,705 pages): 41,520 pages.

Now back to it.

(Y-11) focused and catching the flow (Day 18 of 31)

18 of 18.

This feels awesome, and it also reminds me how much fun is to set a goal and keep on crushing it.

So, yesterday’s total was 183 pages.

I had made some headway with Gardens of the Moon, currently on page 554, and passed the halfway point on the first omnibus of the series by Tim Seeley, Hack/Slash.

I’ll try to finish off the night by trying to reach at least page 600 of Gardens of the Moon, at least, but honestly, I am aiming at finishing tonight.

Tick, tock, the December clock is running out of time, and those thousand pages are not going to read themselves.

Now back to it.

(Y-11) flowing some more (Day 17 of 31)

17 of 17, I would have never imagined it, but it is looking up.

Yesterday’s total was 153.

If I can keep these numbers up, by the end of December, I could reach 7,000 pages.

Right now my total for the year is 5,559 pages, yesterday, this sum was reached thanks to the first volume of the haunting series Bedlam, a delusional serial killer with a mask fetish, yeah, freaky things.

As with other Horror series, this is not for the easily shocked.

On the book front, I made some headway, currently on page 537, still my plan to finish the first and second volume of The Malazan Book of the Fallen by the end of the year stands, it just a bit more complicated each passing day.

Tonight I’ll close my reading session with a little more of The Malaz Empire and a bit of serial killer hunter Cassie Hack, from which I started reading the first Omnibus.

Happy Readings!!!

(Y-11) let’s keep it rolling (day 16 of 31)

Still holding a perfect record.

16 of 16 days with 146 pages or more of reading.

Yesterday’s total was 163.

I just past page 500 of Gardens of the Moon and getting ready for the final stretch of the book.

Also, I finished the first volume of the manga series Warcraft: Legends.

I plan to start reading a graphic novel called Bedlam and try to make some headway with my book.

Back to reading.

(Y-11) Let the reading games begin (day 15 of 31)

I sit at the halfway point of my month-long reading session.

And so far, I haven’t missed a beat.

Yesterday’s total was 159 pages.

This thanks to that I finished The third volume of Spawn Origins series, make some headway with The Gardens of the Moon and that I started reading the first volume of Warcraft Legends Manga.

Also, I started planning my reading sessions for the upcoming 24in48 readathon in January 2019.

Tomorrow, I’ll update my numbers and see where I stand, for now, is back to it.

Happy Readings!!!

(Y-11) I’ll need a moment (day 14 of 31)

Yesterday was yet again another great day of reading, 169 total pages.

Today started a bit slow and it got worse.

In the afternoon I had all of the intention of doing a bit of reading, but dear old Netflix got in the way.

This time in the form of Alfonso Cuaron’ s new film, Roma.

A true masterpiece set in Mexico City of the 1970’s, this is a story that will stick with me for a while.

I won’t spoil anything, but turn on Netflix and watch a master at his best.

Right now, I’ll enjoy a night out with my beautiful wife as we celebrate 11 glorious years of marriage.

My reading can take the back seat for tonight.

(Y-11) Another notch (day 13 of 31)

Yesterday was another great day of reading, my total was 156.

I finished the second volume of Spawn Origins series and jump right into another graphic Novel, Dungeons & Dragons: Shadowplague, which by the way I just ended about an hour ago.

This two great graphic novels just push me past the 5,000-page mark, only 2,000 more to go to reach my goal for this vacation period.

screenshot_20181212-2303062130607653.jpg

On the book front, I have been progressing slowly, right now I am on page 438 of 627, and my plan to finish my Saturday still stands, just need to push a little bit harder.

Now let’s do a quick recap of my numbers.

  • Total pages for (Y-11) : 5,044 pages.
  • Pages to go to achieve first milestone (10,000 pages): 4,956 pages.
  • Pages to go to achieve the main goal of the year (53,000 pages): 47,956 pages.
  • Pages to go to be the second-best year of reading (32,001 pages): 26,957 pages.
  • Pages to go to be the best year of reading (47,705 pages): 42,661 pages.

This kind of spurts in my reading just add fuel to the fire, it makes me think that come next October those 53,000 pages will be ancient history.

For now, I’ll squeeze every reading ounce to my Kindle Unlimited account, I just can see some Dungeons & Dragons Classic comics in the horizon.

In an earlier post from today, I shared the progress in my Goodreads Reading Challenge, which right now it sits on 119 books out of 100 proposed to finish in this year, I aim to reach 125 total books.

Happy Readings!!!
