I am up and running on this the first day of Bookly’s Fall Readathon.
I have already logged 2 hours and 2 minutes of my goal of 10 hours.
In order to achieve this I should read 2 and a half hours per day, so this is a great motivator to push forward.
My focus was on two things, my current book , Vengeance of the Iron Dwarf, from which I read from page 88 to 176.
The other is the second volume of Werewolf by night, from which I read from page 108 to 167, and to my delight there’s an appearance by Frankenstein’s monster.
I am aiming today for more than 3 hours of reading and a bit over 300 pages.
On the movie front, I just watched 1 of the 19 movies that were on my list, and it’s probably time to scrap this part from next year’s festivities.
On the reading front, it went a bit better, but not that much, I finished Frankenstein, and read the about half of The Halloween Tree.
Also ,first volume of Marvel’s The Vampire Tales, about 1/5 of the second volume of Werewolf by Night, a couple of short stories from Avatar’s Night of the Living Dead, and the crown jewel of this year’s festivities, Hellboy: The Storm and The Fury.
Not a very productive run, but a really satisfying one.
Right now I am gearing up for my next task, Bookly’s Fall Readathon, which will take place from November 5 to 8, and the main goal is to read 10 hours using the app.
I about 60 pages away from finishing Frankenstein, one of my Spooktober’s tradition, which also includes watching on Halloween, Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein, both movies starting the legendary Boris Karloff, and directed by James Whale.
This year I have included a new take of this classic tale, in form of an Rock Opera by Mexican composer Jose Fors, we watch the show a few years ago, now I have to settle with the album.
Also, I have reach the first 1,000 pages of this year, only 36,000 pages to go.
I’ll make the most of this cold and snowy day, to cozy up, and get some reading done, on deck right now is the second volume of Werewolf by Nigh.
With the main week of Spooktober just around the corner, an update is in order.
On the movie front, not much to tell, just watch one movie, Cronos, the first long feature film by academy award winner director Guillermo del Toro.

Also, some of Avatar comics Night of the Living Dead, which ties directly to the classical movie by the zombie master himself George A. Romero.

Still a lot to watch and read, this is going to be a fun week.
10 days into my new year of reading, and I haven’t yet completed my list of books.
I have been over all of my bookshelves, and decided to dedicate, in addition to the books inherited from last year, this year of reading to all my new acquisitions of my favorite Mexican publishing company, Editorial Paraiso Perdido.
Earlier on the year , I subscribed to it’s new books membership, which counted with 10 new novels to be release throughout 2020.
I still have 4 more books to receive, and in addition to that I bought some other that I found interesting.
Right now , as you can above, I have 10 great stories to dig into, and start things off I’ll read Serafina y el ardid insondable, written and beautifully illustrated by Diana Martín.
Today is the first official day of the thirteen year of my reading.
Last year was amazing, I finish with a total of 45,345 pages, making it my third best year.
This, over 350 different items, which include 27 books, 141 single issue comics, and 182 graphic novels.
My best month of reading was February 2020, with a total of 5,249 pages, my worst month was September 2020 with a total of 2,407 pages, making my best day March 21, 2020 with a total of 573 pages.
In my day to day reading I was averaging about 121 pages, and as you can see below , the color were more on the blue and green, totaling 202 days, with just 13 days with 0 pages read, and to my delight, 10 days with over 300 pages.
This day also marks the retirement of my dear journal, “Reginald”, that after 769 days, I have finally filled it from cover to cover.
This new year will be a short one, 236 days, this is with the intention of finishing on my birthday, and each year after that will be from June to June, until my 50th birthday, in which hopefully I will be celebrating page number 1,000,000
On this journey, I will be accompanied by a brand new journal, “Luther ” , which will be exclusive for this year.
I am really anxious to start with this new year, and tackle those 37,984 pages.
It all started back on a chilly day back on 2008, I was sitting on the dinner table of our first apartment, it was a small and cozy space that we loved, it had verily visible exposed brick all over the livingroom, for every inch of that room was filled with bookshelves.
We also were about to have our first anniversary in December, as I sit in our little table for my wife to come back home, surrounded by books , it hit me that I should start keeping track of what I was reading.
Months later, and encouraged by my lovely wife, I started writing about my experience reading, and all the rituals that surrounded this great pastime that literally saved my life.
And thus Lost in a million pages was born
The first entry in my list was a Hellboy novel, On Earth as it is in Hell by Brian Hodge.
Now it is 12 years later, I have read a total of 325,369 pages over 3,543 items.
Cheers for another amazing year, and thank you for coming along for the ride.
