Numbers: July 4,2022

Just barely made it to post my weekly update on it’s rightful day .

The year progressing quite beautifully, being hitting my mark, and everything is clicking just right. The only thing that needs to catch a better rhythm is my perpetual challenge of reading 52 books on 52 weeks. Just as the fifth week starts, I’m still working on the fourth book of the year, but with a little push, it should be done by tomorrow. But with such a special series, of course I’m talking about the legendary tales of the rogue Drow Drizzt Do’Urden.

The book on the plate right is Maestro, the second book of the Homecoming trilogy, and book number thirty-two of the long-spanning saga popularly known as The Legend of Drizzt, which has all of our favorite heroes, and their nefarious supporting cast, battling with the forces of the Underdark.

As always, Mr. Salvatore doesn’t disappoint, my plan is to finish the trilogy by the weekend, and ponder if I should dive right into the next book, or savior the thrill that the anticipation of reading some more of one of my favorite characters. Much to consider

Now let’s talk about MY NUMBERS, the current total is 4,919 of the 64,952 pages of this year’s goal, a pretty decent progress for the week, and just a few more steps to reach the 5,000-page mark. Still, the 3,000 plus week, eludes me, but it will fall, eventually, I hope.

My reading schedule, the Achilles heel of the whole shebang, is surprisingly, right on time, this gives me the focus remains in not falling behind, for the meantime,that will suffice.

The mantra for every morning will continue to be:, one step at a time, one page at a time.

I start the week five with a surplus of 90 pages, given my breathing room to hit the upcoming week’s quota a little more relax. As I didn’t made a post summarizing how the month June ended, let me just say that it ended with 137 pages above the monthly quota, being the first time that my first month of reading for any year, starts with numbers in the plus column.

For the first 500,000 pages, I have only 78,705 pages left, and the new date of reaching that goal is January 25, 2025 that’s 10 days earlier than the last projection, my sights are still pointed at March 20, 2023 as the desired date to reach the first half of the challenge, now I have 259 days to do so.The gap narrowed from 686 to 678 days behind schedule. As I posted a few days ago, this particular number will be the main focus of the months to follow, there´s some special events surrounding the journey, nothing better to get things done than some wacky activities to boost my morale.

The second part of the journey, or the other 500,000 pages, my weekly pages needed are now 1,506 with a daily average of 215 pages, 1 page less than the last projection.

Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight, the projections puts it 6,892 days away, a 18 day gain from the last projection, making the end date is May 17, 2041 that’s 3,634 days after the original plan, 12 days less that the last projection. I have to keep reminding myself that my goal is to reach my goal by my 50th birthday, right now, I would be 59 years 11 months, and 12 days old.

Pure and unadulterated crazyness

I have been toying with the idea, for quite sometime, of reaching the first half of the 1,000,000-page goal by March 20, 2023.

This date seem a bit random, but I can assure you it is not. Between this date and my 50th birthday there’s a span of 3,000 days. This would mean, in the fortunate scenario that I do reach the halfway point by then, that my daily total would have to be around 166 pages

But I’m getting ahead of myself, first thing first, there’s the matter of 79,013 pages, and with my self imposed deadline fast approaching, only 263 days away, it’s time to plan out really rigorous my reading schedule.

To keep my spirits high, I’ll be constantly updating my task with a quick post every other day.

Thus it starts, with 79,013 pages and the clock quickly ticking away

11 hours 54 minutes and 22 seconds

As I predicted, achieving the monthly hours quota was a bit far fetched, and with almost twelve hours left, it has become virtually impossible. But, alas, I’ll give it my best shot.

The page count on the other hand, is just about to fall down, there’s only 147 pages left on the monthly quota. Even this close to the goal, I better not get so sure about myself.

To seal the deal, and to close out today’s reading, I’ll tackle the third volume of the Manga series, Dr. STone, a very clever take on a dystopian world filled with petrified people.

14 hours 31 minutes and 39 seconds, with a side order of 516 pages

There are around 52 hours left on the month of June, and there’s still some unfinished business with my projections.

The first part of the very long title of this post, the 14 hours and change thingy, will probably the most challenging one. I have a shoot if by tomorrow the clock strikes 12 hours or less, maybe there’s the possibility of squeezing 6 hours each day, a long shot, but not impossible.

The second bit of the unnecessarily long title, the one with the 500 pages, is the most realistic challenge to achieve. As things go on these evening’s reading, I’ll probably start tomorrow with around 300 pages left, for two days of reading it should be another normal couple of days.

Off to read, that the clock is not ticking away.

Numbers: June 28, 2022

Welcome to the another episode of why in the hell did you not update the numbers on Monday, I’m your host, the procrastinator extraordinaire .

Being this year’s goal the gargantuan sum of 64,492 total pages, I must confess that this is turning up better that I could ever expect. The only thing that hasn’t quite gotten into the groove of things is the updating of my ultimate bullet journal for manually tracking my reading, well that and the fact that my reading didn’t hit quite the mark, but things are right on schedule.

Now let’s talk about MY NUMBERS, the current total is 3,969 of the 64,952 pages of this year’s goal, a pretty decent progress to start off the year. Still, the 3,000 plus week, eludes, but it will fall, eventually, I hope.

The second part of the journey, or the other 500,000 pages, my weekly pages needed are now 1,511 with a daily average of 216 pages, 2 pages less than the last projection.

Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight, the projections puts it 6,910 days away, a 89 day gain from the last projection, making the end date is May 29, 2041 that’s 3,646 days after the original plan, 44 days less that the last projection. I have to keep reminding myself that my goal is to reach my goal by my 50th birthday, right now, I would be 59 years 11 months, and 24 days old.

A little update on my “triple week”

The goal for this week is to read three times the weekly quota, that’s 3,738 pages for the whole week.

Well into Thursday, I have a total of 563 pages, a bit under the pace for reaching the quota once.

But fear not, with the looming weekend ahead of me, there’s still a small chance to get this done. For today there’s around 700 pages left to read.

Numbers: June 13,2022

Welcome to the first Magic Monday of year number fifteen and the first of the month of June. I haven’t made a proper report of my progress since May 23, and it’s about damn time.

This year’s goal are pretty similar from year fourteen, read one book a week, get at least 64,492 total pages, and more importantly, have an amazing time doing so.

The first week went by in a flash, between celebrating my birthday, preparing the proper digital files to keep track of the progress, and created what I expect to be the ultimate bullet journal for manually tracking my reading, my reading was subpar, but not awful.

Now let’s talk about MY NUMBERS, the current total is 1,169 of the 64,952 pages of this year’s goal, a pretty decent progress to start off the year.The upcoming, and as mention on my last post, I’m shooting for a 3,000 plus week.

My reading schedule, the Achilles heel of last year, is right on schedule, this gives me the incentive to not fall back, as long as it is right on time, that will suffice.

I start the week two with a deficit of 101 pages, as I said it’s was a blur this week, and the results were good, but I’ll quicken the pace.

For the first 500,000 pages, I have only 82,455 pages left, and the new date of reaching that goal is February 24, 2025 that’s 79 days earlier than the last projection, my sights are still pointed at March 20, 2023 as the desired date to reach the first half of the challenge, now I have 281 days to do so.The gap narrowed from 744 to 708 days behind schedule.

The second part of the journey, or the other 500,000 pages, my weekly pages needed are now 1,526 with a daily average of 218 pages, 3 pages less than the last projection.

Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight, the projections puts it 6,969 days away, a 93 day gain from the last projection, making the end date is July 12, 2041 that’s 3,690 days after the original plan, 72 days less that the last projection. I have to keep reminding myself that my goal is to reach my goal by my 50th birthday, right now, I would be 60 years 1 months, and 7 days old.

Results of the 1,500-page weekend

Not the way I was wishing to start of my fifteen year of reading, but the important thing is, that all in all, there was chocolate cake.

This weekend, my very ambitious plan, was to try and do two things, read a total of 1,500 pages, as per the title above, and possibly one of those day could be a 1,000-page day, well, neither of those things happened.

My total was 491 pages, being Sunday the best day with a total of 316 pages. This result does not dent my enthusiasm to tackle the next challenge, which start today, read 3 times the minimal weekly amount of projected pages. This means that, starting today, and finishing on Sunday, I’ll try to read a total of 3,738 pages, quite the chunk of change.

To help me along this gargantuan task, I´ll read some of the graphic novel that where part of my birthday bounty. I’m particularly excited to read Polvo by Antonio Malpica, at a quick glance, it looks right up the alley of the fantastic movie The City of Lost Children directed by Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

Day One Results: 1,500-page Weekend

Not the best outing for the first day of the first challenge of the year.

Finish with 142 of the 1,500 pages, although this wasn’t quite result , I did enjoyed some breathtaking illustrations by Alan Lee, personally, he has shaped the vision I have of Middle-Earth, more than anything else, this include the movies, which I love.

For today’s menu, a couple of Red Sonja’s graphic novels, and two volumes of Jim Butcher’s comic book adaptation of his famous series The Dresden Files, and obviously keep on reading The Fall of Gondolin
