91 and 7 days

I have exactly 91 days left on this the fourteen year of reading, and in that time the total pages left are 20,077.

But my most immediate challenge is to reach the 50,000 page mark, for which, there’s only 7 days and 5,135 pages left.

Both are quite the undertaking, those 5,135 present the most challenging task, but at least more than half that is possible than I can tackle. I’m confident in my ability to take it on, for that, and as must you expect from me, I concocted a reading schedule to help reach that particular.

What’s in store for today :

  • Asesino Real (70 pages)
  • Shaman King Vol. 7
  • Shaman King Vol. 8
  • X of Swords (195 pages)
  • La búsqueda del asesino (105 pages)

That’s around 571 pages, and that will be the total for each day for this week.

Eventful day

I have only two days left in the month of February, and a lot to cover on my monthly goals.

The most tricky one is the almost 12 hours, of 56, left on the clock, 6 hours each is quite the challenge, but nothing I haven’t done before.

The page front is a bit less complicated, there’s 225 pages left, that for a two-day expanse is pretty standard for my reading rythm, still, I’m not taking any chances.

The other significant event for today is that this year of reading enters its final 100 days.

21,979 pages to reach my goal of 64,952.

Jump in early

With only 4 days left in February, and 866 pages in the pages quota, I decided to jump a bit earlier on my reading routine.

I have to read around 217 daily pages to fill the quota, and hopefully there will be some extra pages to finish with some positive numbers to chip away some of the surplus pages from previous months.

The other thing looming in the horizon is the deadline to reach 50,000 pages, which is March 14, with 17 days left and 7,718 pages to read, there’s a lot to get done.

With that in mind.

That didn’t turn out as expected

My grandiose plan didn’t turn out quite as I expected. My total for yesterday was 247 pages, not quite the 580 to get my total left for the month of February under 1,000 pages.

Some positive news is that the short story collection, The Crow: Shattered Lives & Broken Dreams, is on my read pile. Today a new book takes its place, Criaturas Fantásticas, a compilation a stories by non other that Neil Gaiman himself, which includes a story penned by Neil.

For today’s reading, and the first tale of the book, Gahan Wilson’s story named only with a heartbeat line, really Prince like.

Hopefully, I’ll also start a new book today, with Nicholas Eames’ Rosa La Sanguinaria only having 43 pages left, the next book on the queue is Robin Hobb’s Royal Assassin, the second volume of the Farseer Trilogy,

Lots to achieve today.

What’s that? I can’t read more than 500 pages today?…hold my beer (walks out determined)

I have 1,580 pages left on my February quota, and a little voice in the back off my head said that it will be cool if by tomorrow morning that number magically turns from a 4-digit number to a 3-digit number.

That being said, today’s itinerary consist of a trek thru The Wyld, a dinner party with The Lightbringer, and hopefully a triumphant return to the Farseer Trilogy, with the second installment, Royal Assassin, written of course by the legendary Robin Hobb.

So excited that I can’t sleep

Right now it’s 12:47 a.m., and I’m to wired to sleep, no, unfortunately there’s no caffeine to blame, just my eagerness to reach my goals.

On top off posting about the progress toward my next milestone, 50,000 pages, I’ll be adding a daily rundown of my two magic numbers to reach what will determine the final outcome of this project.

The first magic number will change as I’ll get near to the goal for this year, once the next milestone is reached it will change to 60,000, and then to 65,000, which will give a total over my projections. Today’s magic number is 320 pages.

The second magic number is a little more static, being a goal to reach in the long term, and not a yearly projection that’s heavily influenced by how many I finished over or under the projections for each particular year. For today that magic number is 272 pages.

As I stated before, never have I back down from a challenge, whether it is reach or not, that’s a whole different story.

I have my work cut out for me, let’s work on getting those numbers down.

50,000-page watch (February 8, 2022)

Today I start a new section to keep updated on what will become my best year of reading, that honor is currently hold by my first year of reading with a total of 47,705 pages.

With yesterday’s reading, finish the amazingly fun Reyes de la Tierra Salvaje by Nicholas Eames and the fourth volume of Attack on Titan, my total is now 40,802 pages, leaving me 6,904 pages to surpass my best year and 9,198 to reach the 50,000-page milestone.

For today’s reading, I’ll start with the next book set in the same world of the adventures of the famous mercenary band Saga, now with the story of the legendary Bloody Rose, judging by the previous book of Mr. Eames, it’s going an amazing read. To complement or better said, my in-between reading, will be the first book of the legendary run by Mike Carey on Lucifer, spinning off the pages of Neil Gaiman’s The Sandman, in my humble opinion, the greatest comic-book series ever written.

I’ll be updating every time there’s new pages registered, and hopefully come March 14, that magic number would have been reach.

40,000-page watch (February 6,2022)

Just one more step, and I’ll reach the 40,000-page milestone. How much pages are between me and the threshold? Only a measly 98 pages.

I planned for today to go all-out with my reading. The culprit to get passed the finishing line will be the second volume of the Manga series Claymore by Norihiro Yagi, following the silver-eye huntress Claire and her struggle against the devilish Yoma.

As an added bonus, the aim of this week of reading is to finish above 2,000 total pages, which is around 400 pages. There’s some digital graphic novels floating around, really eager to be read. But for now, my focus is solely on getting to my next step.

40,000-page watch (February 5,2022)

The next milestone is so close, I can taste it.

There´s only 274 pages between me and these elusive goal.

Today’s game plan is pretty straight forward, I’m going keep chipping away at the magnificent Reyes de la tierra salvaje, currently on page 329 of 528, and some single-issue comics from this week’s haul.

I’m particularly looking forward to chapter 7 of Endless, it’s always pure joy reading stories about Justice League Dark, those misfits are some of my favorite characters from the DC Universe. Luckily, this is a long weekend in Mexico, we get Monday off in celebration of the countries proclamation of its Constitution, that means more time for me go and chase those pages.

40,000-page watch (February 3, 2022)

I’m edging ever closer to my next milestone, 40,000 pages

Today starts with a total of 38,830 pages, that leaves 1,170 pages to reach, a very obtainable goal for this week’s reading.

Fortunately, we woke up to a little bit of snow, and that means that it’s a day to stay under the cover, drinking copious amounts of coffee, and of course some long reading sessions. I have some interesting things to read, Shaman King Vol. 1,Attack on Titan Vol. 2, and Bloodborne Vol.1, all of them from my Kindle Unlimited subscription. Also, I’ll try to make some headway with Reyes de la tierra salvaje, currently on page 202 of 528.

For my daily on-going challenge, one short story a day, I just finished reading today’s entry from The Crow: Shattered Lives & Broken Dreams, a poem, Joy Divided by Douglas E. Winter, and Triad by Janny Wurts, marking a 27 day streak.
