Right now my total for year fourteen is 47,183. That’s 2,817 pages left to get me over that really important milestone.
Fortunately; this is a long weekend and with a little effort and massive amounts of caffeine, by Monday Morning, I’ll be raising a proverbial toast to the joyous occasion, in what form, that’s still being discussed.
There’s a particular focus on finishing La búsqueda del asesino, currently on page 469 of 829, so I can start with renew strength to tackle Tolkien Reading Day, and if all goes as plan, reading The Children of Húrin in it’s entirety.
In this what is left of the list that I concocted to get me over the total.
With this morning’s petite reading session, which felt a whole course meal, I have finally pass my second best year of reading, year number eleven with a total of 47,171, now the total for year fourteen is 47,183.
I have many thanks to give to two amazing single-issue comic books from the horror series by Scott Snyder and Francesco Francavilla, The Night of the Ghoul, publish for the original imprint of the Comixology app.
This series has a very Criminal Macabre-Hellboy feel to it, and with Mr. Snyder at the helm for the writing and Mr. Francavilla with the haunting artwork, it’s a must for any comic book fan.
There’s only 523 pages between me and my best year of reading, after that, I coming for those 50,000 pages.
Once again, welcome to a Magic Monday that’s actually on a Monday, the second of the month of March, and once again it was quite the amazing week of reading.
My challenge of 52 books in 52 weeks challenge is still way ahead of schedule, starting week number 39, I started working on book number 46, La búsqueda del asesino by legendary author Robin Hobb, currently on page 264 of 829, the final book of the Farseer trilogy. The one short story a day challenge is enjoying a 65-day streak. Still working on the collection of infamous puritan swordsman Solomon Kane, as I said last time created by Robert E. Howard famous for creating Conan The Barbarian, the illustrations by Gary Gianni are simply beautiful.
For the next short story collection, I’m torn between two books, Legends II, containing stories by some heavy hitters like Robin Hobb, Neil Gaiman, Tad Williams and Anne McCaffrey, or the next volume of the collection of Conan The Barbarian, The Conquering Sword of Conan.
Decisions, decisions
Now let’s talk about MY NUMBERS, the current total is 46,986 of the 64,952 pages of this year’s goal, that’s a whopping 2,121 registered pages more than last update. Still struggling to reach the next step, 50,000 pages. Today was, according to my projections, the day when I supposedly had to reach this next milestone but with 3,014 pages to reach it, I’ll have some leniency and give myself another week to do so. Which is almost a certainty is that I will surpass my two best years of reading, Year One and Year Eleven, for which there’s 720 and 186 pages, respectively, to get there.
The end of the year projection of total pages had a significant surge ,currently is at 61,199 pages, 1,270 pages more than the last update. My reading schedule is now 17 days behind, this is a 5 day gain from my last update. I keep on sticking to my mantra, one step at a time, one page at a time.
I start week 39 with a deficit of 3,539 pages, and a total 4,785 pages to get back to balance, this week I had a surplus of 404 pages. The total for the month of March, for which the projected goal is 5,518 pages, is now 3,400 representing almost a 62%, in the first two weeks of the month. There´s 5,983 pages to get back in balance for the whole year.
For the first 500,000 pages, I have only 102,437 pages left, and the new date of reaching that goal is August 29, 2025, that’s 25 days earlier than the last projection, my sights are still pointed at March 20, 2023 as the desired date to reach the first half of the challenge, a date that is fast approaching. The gap narrowed from 917 to 894 days behind schedule.
The second part of the journey, or the other 500,000 pages, my weekly pages needed are now 1,660 with a daily average of 237 pages, a 3 page a day drop from the last projection.
Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight, the projections puts it 7,431 days away, a 56 day gain from the last projection, making the end date is July 18, 2042, that’s 4,061 days after the original plan, 49 days less that the last projection. This time of forward are to become the standard, the gain of at least a month of time with each week. I have to keep remaining myself that my coveted end date is in the middle 2031, not somewhere in 2042.
To summary the numbers from my Journey Back.
Pages to reach 500,000: 102,437 pages
Days to reach 1,000,000: 7,431 days
Days behind schedule: 4,061 days
Now back to work on the 50,000-page milestone, and hitting my very neglected daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
Being tomorrow, this according to my projections, should be the day for reaching the 50,000-page milestone in this year of reading, it seems fit that I made a little update to see where my total stands.
As of right now my total for the year is 46,605 pages, that’s 3,395 to reach the next point in my journey. It is safe to say that is nearly impossible for me to read almost 3,500 pages in one day, but it seems like a task for the upcoming week of reading.
In order to reach that task, I concocted a list to get me over the total.
La búsqueda del asesino (currently reading)
Shaman King Vol.9 ( currently reading)
Shaman King Vol.10
Absolute Sandman Overture
Batman:Dark Victory
Vinland Saga Vol.1
Eternals: Cosmic Origin
Wasteland Vol.2
Wasteland Vol.3
Wasteland Vol.4
Wasteland Vol.5
Wasteland Vol.6
Wasteland Vol.7
This will give 5 pages over the total, and it will become my best year of reading.
I’m so excited to say that this year is now officially my third best in page total. With 45,519 total pages it’s only behind year number 11 with 47,171 total pages, and my best year, the first of all, with 47,705 total pages.
That means that I’m only 2,187 pages away from the top spot. I´ll work my ass off to get there by the end of the week, and celebrate achieving both the best year ever and crossing the 50,000-page milestone for the year.
I’m thinking that celebratory pancakes are in my near future.
I have exactly 91 days left on this the fourteen year of reading, and in that time the total pages left are 20,077.
But my most immediate challenge is to reach the 50,000 page mark, for which, there’s only 7 days and 5,135 pages left.
Both are quite the undertaking, those 5,135 present the most challenging task, but at least more than half that is possible than I can tackle. I’m confident in my ability to take it on, for that, and as must you expect from me, I concocted a reading schedule to help reach that particular.
What’s in store for today :
Asesino Real (70 pages)
Shaman King Vol. 7
Shaman King Vol. 8
X of Swords (195 pages)
La búsqueda del asesino (105 pages)
That’s around 571 pages, and that will be the total for each day for this week.
Welcome to the first Magic Monday of the month of March, and what an awesome way to start this month.
My challenge of 52 books in 52 weeks challenge is way ahead of schedule, starting week number 38, I’m still working on book number 45, Asesino Real by legendary author Robin Hobb, currently on page 584 of 654, I hope to finish by today in order to start the final book of the Farseer trilogy, La búsqueda del Asesino. The one short story a day challenge is enjoying a 58-day streak. I´m about to start a new short story collection by non-other that Robert E. Howard, famed Conan The Barbarian creator. This time is the turn of puritan swordsman Solomon Kane, beautifully by one of the best artists in fantasy, Gary Gianni.

To summary the numbers from my Journey Back.
Pages to reach 500,000: 106,276 pages
Days to reach 1,000,000: 7,530 days
Days behind schedule: 4,146 days
Now back to work on the 50,000-page milestone, and hitting my very neglected daily, weekly, and monthly goals.
I have only two days left in the month of February, and a lot to cover on my monthly goals.
The most tricky one is the almost 12 hours, of 56, left on the clock, 6 hours each is quite the challenge, but nothing I haven’t done before.
The page front is a bit less complicated, there’s 225 pages left, that for a two-day expanse is pretty standard for my reading rythm, still, I’m not taking any chances.
The other significant event for today is that this year of reading enters its final 100 days.
With only 4 days left in February, and 866 pages in the pages quota, I decided to jump a bit earlier on my reading routine.
I have to read around 217 daily pages to fill the quota, and hopefully there will be some extra pages to finish with some positive numbers to chip away some of the surplus pages from previous months.
The other thing looming in the horizon is the deadline to reach 50,000 pages, which is March 14, with 17 days left and 7,718 pages to read, there’s a lot to get done.
