Welcome to another Magic Monday, and what a special week it was for my reading.

Everything is going full speed ahead, my challenge of 52 books in 52 weeks challenge is way ahead of schedule, starting week number 34, I’m ready books numbers 40 and 41, still working on Reyes de la Tierra Salvaje by Nicholas Eames, currently on page 415 of 528.My newest challenge, one short story a day, is enjoying a 30-day streak, now I’m working on the collection The Crow: Shattered Lives & Broken Dreams, which will be book number 41 of year .

Now let’s talk about MY NUMBERS, the current total is 40,087 of the 64,952 pages of this year’s goal, that’s 1,685 registered pages more than last update.I have finally reach the 40,000 pages milestone, time for some celebration, and focusing on the next step, 50,000 pages. According to my projections, in order to get back to schedule for the year of reading, I should be reaching this next milestone by March 14, that’s 35 intense days.

The end of the year projection of total pages, for the second week in a row, had a significant boost, right now is at 59,642 pages, 834 pages more than the last update. My reading schedule is now 21 days behind, this is a 2 day gain from my last update, my mantra, one step at a time, one page at a time, is finally showing off results.

I start week 34 with a deficit of 3,976 pages, and a total 5,222 pages to get back to balance, the good news is that I had a whopping 710 pages more for this week’s quota, and the total for the month of February, which is 4,984 pages, has now a total of 1,943 pages, representing almost a 40% of the total in just one week.Just the motivation I needed to keep on grinding away.

For the first 500,000 pages, I have only 109,336 pages left, and the new date of reaching that goal is November 1, 2025, that’s 18 days earlier than the last projection, finally, I’ll make an extra effort to close into the middle of year 2025, but my sights are still pointed at March 20, 2023 as the desired date to reach the first half of the challenge, that gap narrowed from 966 to 948 days behind schedule.

The second part of the journey, or the other 500,000 pages, my weekly pages needed are now 1,712 with a daily average of 245 pages, a 2 page a day drop from the last projection.

Now for the golden prize of 1,000,000 pages, to my delight, the projections puts it 7,594 days away, a 43 day gain from the last projection, making the end date is November 23, 2042, that’s 4,189 days after the original plan, 36 days less that the last projection. This passed few weeks my momentum forward has been at least a month of time gained, still, my eye on the prize of the coveted end date of 2031, and the very special trip to close-out the final pages of my journey.

To summary the numbers from my Journey Back.

40,000-page watch (February 6,2022)

Just one more step, and I’ll reach the 40,000-page milestone. How much pages are between me and the threshold? Only a measly 98 pages.

I planned for today to go all-out with my reading. The culprit to get passed the finishing line will be the second volume of the Manga series Claymore by Norihiro Yagi, following the silver-eye huntress Claire and her struggle against the devilish Yoma.

As an added bonus, the aim of this week of reading is to finish above 2,000 total pages, which is around 400 pages. There’s some digital graphic novels floating around, really eager to be read. But for now, my focus is solely on getting to my next step.

40,000-page watch (February 5,2022)

The next milestone is so close, I can taste it.

There´s only 274 pages between me and these elusive goal.

Today’s game plan is pretty straight forward, I’m going keep chipping away at the magnificent Reyes de la tierra salvaje, currently on page 329 of 528, and some single-issue comics from this week’s haul.

I’m particularly looking forward to chapter 7 of Endless, it’s always pure joy reading stories about Justice League Dark, those misfits are some of my favorite characters from the DC Universe. Luckily, this is a long weekend in Mexico, we get Monday off in celebration of the countries proclamation of its Constitution, that means more time for me go and chase those pages.

40,000-page watch (February 3, 2022)

I’m edging ever closer to my next milestone, 40,000 pages

Today starts with a total of 38,830 pages, that leaves 1,170 pages to reach, a very obtainable goal for this week’s reading.

Fortunately, we woke up to a little bit of snow, and that means that it’s a day to stay under the cover, drinking copious amounts of coffee, and of course some long reading sessions. I have some interesting things to read, Shaman King Vol. 1,Attack on Titan Vol. 2, and Bloodborne Vol.1, all of them from my Kindle Unlimited subscription. Also, I’ll try to make some headway with Reyes de la tierra salvaje, currently on page 202 of 528.

For my daily on-going challenge, one short story a day, I just finished reading today’s entry from The Crow: Shattered Lives & Broken Dreams, a poem, Joy Divided by Douglas E. Winter, and Triad by Janny Wurts, marking a 27 day streak.

January 2022 Recap

I´m glad to say that this January put me back on the right path to go get these years goals done.

From the two main goals for the month, reading 62 hours and 5,518 pages, were met with flying colors. Having a total of 72 hours and 6,000 pages.

Now going forward, I have quite the task for the upcoming months, but my approach is to take on the monthly task and try to get something to keep on chipping away those extra pages.

For February my goals are 56 hours and 4,984 pages. With only 4 full months and 6 days on June left for this year of reading, the importance of getting my numbers out of the red becomes top priority. Has you can see below, from August to September my projected number came really short, this puts 9,121 pages for the month of February in order to get back to balance.

Realistically my aim is to read close to 7,000 pages for February, and hopefully by May the total pages will balance out to close out the reach strongly.

Short month, big plans.

Off tor read.

My reading schedule is now 23 days behind, this is a 2 day gain from my last update, my mantra, one step at a time, one page at a time, is finally showing off results.

Being the month February the shortest of the year, and hence the one with the smallest monthly quota, I´ll take it as a motivation to keep on grinding away.

For the first 500,000 pages, I have only 111,024 pages left, and the new date of reaching that goal is November 19, 2025, that’s 16 days earlier than the last projection, finally, I’ll make an extra effort to close into the middle of year 2025, but my sights are still pointed at March 20, 2023 as the desired date to reach the first half of the challenge, that gap narrowed from 993 to 977 days behind schedule.

3 days and 2,250 pages

There’s only 3 days on the month of January, well, 2 and the few hours left on this day, and I find 2,250 pages between me and the coveted 40,000-page mark.

That can only mean one thing, some intensive, caffeine fueled reading session.

In all my stats are looking pretty good.

What concerns my January goals for both hours and pages, I have successfully surpass both. Now my main focus is to take on the gargantuan task of reaching 40,000 pages. For that, there’s a couple of great reads to help me along the way.

Starting with the amazingly clever Reyes de la tierra salvaje by Nicholas Eames, book number 39 of the year, following the adventures of the rock-star mercenary band Saga. Its really refreshing to see humor thrown into the mix of an epic adventure story with such ease

The other is volume thirteen of the masterful Manga by Kentauro Miura, Berserk, what will be the faith of Griffith and the Band of the Hawk.

Quite the huge undertaking for the next days, but with only one short story left on the collection of stories of the wondrous Newford series by Charles DeLint, there’s are 414 page practically in the bag. Only 1,836 pages left to resolve.

Now, for my next act

As I update my reading number in my digital files, the realization that the next milestone, 40,000 pages, is not that far off. Only 2,717 pages are between me and that coveted goal.

I have planned to reach it by the end of this month, being that only 6 days away, I think to myself.

Don’t mind if I do.

That would mean that I need 452 daily pages to do so, bit of stretch for the weekdays, but anything left hanging, I’ll cover it on Saturday and Sunday.

Below you can see how my goals are shaping-up.

The only goal met are my reading hours for January, but everything near or over 50%, which is things pointing in the right direction.
