(Y-12) Quarantined day, or, how I’m trying to reach 40,000 pages

We have been extra careful with all the COVID-19 stuff, and this has meant that we have only gone out for really essential stuff like groceries, doctor’s appointments, or things we cannot do over the internet.

This means a lot of downtime for reading.

The situation in Mexico has not yet reached its peak point, so we have to keep on taking the same preoccupations, which according to the Secretary of Health it will probably be at the end of June, which means a summer spent behind closed doors, and on the backyard.

With this in mind, I have taken upon myself to reach 40,000 pages by the end of July.

Right now I am still 8,233 net pages away from doing it, here is an explanation on the meaning of net pages, and I plan to make daily updates of what I am reading and the total amount that I have chipped off my next challenge.

For now, I am off to read.

(Y-12) two new milestones, for real this time

I have finally reached two major milestones, the first was reaching 300,000 pages of the 1,000,000 pages that comprise my crazy little project, which started back in 2008.

The book that put me thru this remarkable goal was The Walking Dead Vol. 9, a series that I started reading back in 2007, and read from volume 1 to 7.

Right now there are more than 30 volumes.

Also, I reached 20,000 pages of this year of reading, this 25 days ahead of schedule.

Consequently, it was the tenth volume of The Walking Dead that helped me cross the 20,000-page mark.

The next immediate goal is to pass the halfway mark of this year of reading, which is 20,833 pages, just 775 more to go.

Also, make this year my best one yet, for that to happen, I still have 27,832 pages ahead of me.

For this week of reading, I have lined-up some really of my favorite series.

Starting with the world created by David Petersen, Mouse Guard, with three collections that I found on Kindle Unlimited, also, the second comic book series of The Witcher, Fox Children, still haven’t read the last three numbers.

And lastly, try to finish by Thursday night the second volume of Dragonlance Chronicles, Dragons of Winter Night, I have fallen a little behind, but nothing I cannot make up for.

For now, I am off to read.

(Y-12) The mighty and powerful Nick Cave

I have always found solace in music.

Right now, I have a special connection with Nick Cave.

It has an incredible depth and complexity to his lyrics.

I am obsessed with his latest release, Ghosteen. 

Particularly one song has latch on to my heart and mind, Bright Horses.

(Y-12) Happy Anniversary to us

A day just like today, but seven years ago, I started writing on this blog.

After more than 550 posts later it’s still great fun.

Thank you to all who follow my progress thru my crazy project.

I plan to go all out for these last 17 days left for this year of reading.

I’ll try to amount as much as I humanly can.

That means, read anywhere philosophy in full mode, if I could read in my sleep it will be perfect.

The first task, finish House of Chains by Sunday night.

(Y-11) Old school….Tuesday, I guess, All-Star Comics #3

Hello, and welcome to another Old School Monday, on a Tuesday.

Yesterday, I was so tired that sleep got the best of me.

But I did read the comic.

For this occasion was the first appearance of The Justice Society of America, DC Comics first super hero team.

This comic book is a meeting of the super team, where each one report of their most recent run in with criminals, mostly mobsters and bank robbers, no super villains yet.

It is also a time capsule, where the costumes of the era permeates into the story, and for those or us who didn’t experience it is a glimpse of history.
