(Y-11) Old habits

Yesterday was back to old forms, that is reading a ridiculously small amount of pages.

My total was 14 pages, all of which from Deadhouse Gates, currently on page 421, and that only can mean that I have fallen behind of my book reading and my total pages.

With this, I have fallen 18 days behind my reading schedule and a small amount with my book.

But I do have one silver lining, with me finishing the first volume of Batwoman the 11,000-page mark has been surpassed.

I’ll grab this little momentum to get back on form, 146 pages a day and a little over 10 days to the 24in48 readathon.

Back to reading.

(Y-11) Some light

Yesterday was a good day of reading, not above my minimum for each day, but over 100 pages.

106 to be precise.

I finished reading Batwoman: Hydrology, what a fantastic book, beautifully executed.

I am going to start working on the second volume, and my expectation is really high.

I keep on working on the Deadhouse Gates, which by the way I accompanied with a really nice glass of wine, a present that came all the way from Italy.

I’ll try to make some headway tonight and push to catch my rhythm again.

Now back to reading.

(Y-11) picking up the pace.

I have reached my page quota for the day, on my book of course, and right now I’m working on the first volume of Batwoman, what a beautiful piece of work, and it also incorporated some Latin American legend, in this case, La Llorona.

I won’t spoil anything, you must definitely read it.

But going back to Deadhouse Gates, I am currently on page 407, past the halfway point, and it is getting more complex and exciting.

I think I’ll read another chapter of both Deadhouse Gates and Batwoman and then hit the hay because tomorrow it is the beginning of classes on my Master’s degree program.

Back to it then.

(Y-11) Between pages and football

As I said on my previous posts, the main focus for these days is to finish Deadhouse Gates.

So, that means reading 26 pages per day.

The idea is to read that number of pages, and then throw in some graphic novels in between.

Today this has been shared with some NFL playoffs action, from which I am sad to say, my team, the Indianapolis Colts, were eliminated by the Kansas City Chiefs, so now I’ll just enjoy the rest of the games.

Right now I have read 11 of the 26 pages, I’ll pick up the rest between plays.

Happy Readings!!!

(Y-11) The Malazan situation.

I made the decision to focus on finishing Deadhouse Gates before the 24in28 readathon, which on the weekend of January 26, so I can start my reading session with a fresh book.

In this case that will be Gauntlgrym, the first book of the Neverwinter Saga, following the exploits of one of my favorite characters, Drizzt Do’Urden.

So I have about 15 days to finish, and my reading outlook looks like this.

I’ll probably squeeze some graphic novels between reading sessions, but the main focus is to finish with this amazing book and get ready for the readathon.

Now back to it.

(Y-11) A Quick one

Just a quick update of my reading.

The streak is still alive, my total for yesterday was 164 pages, and now, I have read 146 or more pages for 40 straight days.

I didn’t finish anything new, but I had some headway on two things.

First up the fourth volume Bloodshot, where the action continues now pushed forward by the talent of Christos Gage.

On my trek thru the Malazan empire, I reached page 332, I have plans to ride out the night reading it.

And I’ll better get back to reading.

Tick, Tock the clock goes.

azr.

Keep on reading.

I did not quite get to where my reading was supposed to get.

Right now I am on page 328, and I have 4 days to finish it.

That is 371 pages, roughly 93 pages per day.

Ease peese.

I should get back to reading.

A Malazan Trek

On my earlier post, I was asking myself how to finish the second volume of The Malazan Book of the Fallen, Deadhouse Gates.

So, I came to the conclusion that to achieve that I should, I don’t know, read maybe.

Well, I shall do precisely that, I’m starting on page 313, and hopefully, by midnight I should reach close to page 400.

Let’s say this is a dressed rehearsal for the 24in48 readathon in January.

I’ll post again before midnight, in my time zone which is standard mountain time.

To read.

(Y-11) In desperate need of a rhythm

Yesterday was another good day of reading, my total was 164 pages, but because I haven’t had a powerful reading spurt I am still 15 days behind schedule, as you can see by my daily total, I haven’t fallen behind anymore, but I cannot get that gap to reduce.

But I know that this consistency will help me in the long run.

So, yesterday I finished the fourth volume of the fabulous X-O Manowar, Homecoming, Robert Venditti is just built to write this type of stories, and as the end of the volume hints, it is all out war for Aric.

Here is the infographic sheet from Bookly, I grow more fond of this app every day.

On the book front, I had a decent amount of headway, 21 pages, and I am currently on page 313.

Almost on the halfway point, and trying to figure out how to get on the read pile by the end of the weekend, yes, now I am not so set on Saturday, by the end of the weekend will be fine.

With yesterday’s reading my total went up to 10,773 pages for the year, the thing that gives me some comfort is that I have surpassed my worst year of reading, which was year number four with a total of 8,730 pages, by more than 2,000 pages.

And there are still 277 days to go.

Also, I struck gold yesterday while perusing on the catalog of Kindle Unlimited, in one of those insomniac trances I usually get and found several volumes of Batwoman, Swamp Thing, Preacher and many other graphic novels I have been planning to read.

So, score.

With this new find, I think the next volume to read will be the Bloodshot.

Followed by two volumes of Batwoman, written by Haden Blackman in cahoots with J.H. Williams III, who also beautifully illustrated this terrific run.

Back to it.

(Y-11) Just Barely got there.

Yesterday was a lazy day, well at least compared on how I have been reading for the past month.

My total of pages was just barely got past my minimum for the day, which if you recall is 146 pages, well, yesterday’s total was 147 pages, getting it done by the skin of my teeth.

This is talks to its fantastic conclusion of Valiant Comics series Shadowman, in its fourth volume and written by incomparable Peter Milligan.

It goes out with a bang, and it opens up to the next chapter, Shadowman: End of Times, which I am planning to read really soon.

Here is the infographic sheet generated with Bookly.

And just for the fun of it an alternate cover by one of my favorite artists, Ben Templesmith, famous for the series 30 days of night and he’s how creator-owned series Wormwood: Gentleman Corpse.

On the book front, yesterday was just pathetic, only a couple of pages, but I still stand by the idea of finishing it by next Saturday, how am I going to do it remains to be seen.

Caffeine, don’t fail me now.

The other thing I have started working on is my reading schedule for the 24in48 readathon, I try to make each of my reading session focused on one particular theme, for example, I am planning on finishing the Scott Pilgrim series, so one of the reading session will be devoted to that, it only adds to the fun.

Also, I have been reaching out to make one of my reading session a collective one. Still, some of the details have to be refined, but I expect to make a memorable event out of it.

I’ll keep you post it about any new developments, and of my other two events happening in March.

For now, I’ll get back to the Malazan campaign which I have neglected so badly.

Happy Readings!!!
