(Y-10) 78 days… so close I can smell it

Today was a very successful one.

Firstly, I finally finish the DC Universe by Mike Mignola graphic novel, showcasing the extraordinary early work of the now legendary creator of Hellboy, and personally my favorite comic book artist.

The graphic novel collects some of his work in not only the different DC Comics titles but also a wide range of his cover work, eerily beautiful.

Judge for yourself.

Also, I started my journey through one of the latest DC Comics major events, Dark Days, just read the first two issues, which a considered the prelude to the event.

The Forge and the Casting, written by Scott Snyder and James Tynion IV with the support of not one but three legendary artists Andy Kubert, Jim Lee and John Romita Jr., this was an epic start to what promises to become a legendary tale in the rich annals of DC Comics.

And because of this great burst of reading is that I stand on the verge of achieving one the immediate goals of this year, reaching 25,000 pages.

Well, I’m painfully close, for my total, as of now, is 24,996 pages.

Just four measly pages away.

To close out the night, I will read the first issue of Dark Days: Metal and make some headway with The Name of the Wind, currently on page 411, picking up the pace.

Happy Readings!!!

(Y-10) 80 days…focused

The final act of this year of reading is well underway.

I’m locked-in on one primary purpose.

To make this the second-best year of reading for my crazy little project.

But you may wonder, How far away am I to achieve this?

Well, the answer is, not that far.

For this to be the second-best year, I will have to read 3,090 more pages, highly achievable task.

Now, the primary goal for this year is to read more pages than the two previous years combined, to achieve that I will have to read 9,206 more pages, things get a bit more interesting.

And my hail mary goal is to make this my best year of reading, to achieve that I will have to read 23,177 more pages, and well, I have plans to sleep and eat for the foreseable future.

For now Ill stick to my primary goal and try to shoot as close as possible to my best year numbers.

Back to reading, I am currently at page 305 of The Name of the Wind, almost at the halfway mark, and cruising along nicely, better not mess with this good vibe.

(Y-10) 81 days… at full throttle

As the clock slowly ticks away day after day of this year of reading, I come to realize that only my full commitment will get me thru this final stretch of my road.

For my immediate goal I have a couple of milestones in mind, first, and the most obvious, is to reach 25,000, from which I am little under 500 pages to go.

The second is to make this year at least the second best year of reading of this crazy little project, in order to do that I have to reach a little over 26,500 pages.

So, there you have, a couple of landmarks in the horizon in which to focus my journey

I’ll probably have an extensive reading session this evening, focusing on The Name of the Wind and tomorrow I’ll throw in some graphic novels.

Now back to reading.

(Y-10) 82 days… hangover

Today I am in recuperation mode.

I have read a little ,but to be honest it has been a slow day.

Thanks to the 24in48 readathon my total page number has gone up exponentially.

I sit at 24,595 pages and closing in one of the immediate goals, 25,000

Tomorrow I’ll be back on full swing.

Happy Readings!!!

(Y-10) 85 days… the day has finally come

I am only 40 minutes away to start a weekend long reading session.

I will be participating in the amazing readathon 24 in 48, that is read 24 hours in a period of 48 hours.

So, my schedule goes as seen in the pictures below.

Because of the geographical location of the organizers of this event, the official starting time will be at midnight eastern standard time of Saturday July the 21st, that is 2 hours ahead of my Mountain standard time time zone, I will begin at 10 p.m. of today, to coincide with the the blow of the event.

I have already prep my reading Stack, have massive amounts of coffee and a few snacks to fuel my reading.

So I’m of to the races, I’ll be posting an entry after each reading session and capture little moments on Twitter.

You can find me with the handle @azriel_d and be on the lookout for the hashtags #24in48 and #readathon .

Well, I’m off to make the last minutes adjustments .

Happy Readings!!!

(Y-10) 87 days… falling behind

Currently I am on page 267 of The Ghost King, the final book of the Transitions Trilogy of our badass friend Drizzt.

I have was is left of this night and all of tomorrow to finish up in order to be ready for my plans for the 24 in 48 readathon.

My plan is to kick off the weekend’s event reading a new book nd try to finish it over the course of the readathon.

Also, I plan to read a lot of graphic novels and comics.

I am still pending with my final reading schedule but my focus has been on finishing the book.

Hopefully by tomorrow’s post I will be done with the book and have the final layout of my weekend of reading.

For now I’ll get back to the drawing board and do some reading.

(Y-10) 89 days…momentum

I am pleased to say that my reading is right on schedule.

As of now, I am on page 190 of 375 of The Ghost King, that is just past the halfway mark, and with three days left until the beginning of the readathon, things are looking just right.

I plan to read a bit more and then call it a night, let us see how much I can advance before the gentle arms of Morpheus take me to dream country.

The other good news is that I have received some caffeine reinforcements for the upcoming task, in the form of three limited edition Dolce Gusto coffee pods.

I have already tasted the Colombia and Peru varieties, and let me tell you they will be an asset in the wee hours of the night, a sort of caffeinated kick in the ass.

Tomorrow I promise to publish my final reading schedule for the readathon, it needs some adjustments, but it is getting really close to finally making sense.

Back to reading.

(Y-10) 91 days… keep at it.

Today’s morning was dedicated to reading the fantastic work of Scott Snyder and legendary artist John Romita Jr. on All-Star Batman.

Also I did a lot of procrastinating, with a few moments of reading my current book.

I’ll close out the day with some graphic novel action, this time in the form of Lost at Sea by Bryan Lee O’Malley, author and illustrator famous for the Scott Pilgrim series.

Well now back to it.

Happy Readings!!!

(Y-10) 92 days… recharge

I’ll take a few days to just relax and recharge and of course get ready for next weekend’s readathon.

I will be posting my reading plan, goals and schedule for this great event in the coming.

And yes, I will have different themes for each of the reading sessions.

But for now, I’ll enjoy my weekend retrieve and try to make some headway with a few graphic novels and my current book while enjoying this new delight I discovered while wandering.

Happy Readings!!!
