(Y-11) Looking for new stories.

I have been going thru my Comixology account and I found several number one issues of all kind of series.

These are most commonly found on the free comic books section or in bundles.

So now I’m going to read some of them and determine if I’ll go and buy the next numbers.

To start, I’ll read the mega crossover event by Top Cow comics, Artifacts.

The Darkness and Witchblade are a couple of the characters involved in this story.

Let’s see how it plays out.

Off to read.

(Y-11) He who seeks

I was doing some organizing in my wish list on my Amazon account and I found that there are a lot of titles I am interested in reading on my Kindle unlimited account.

So naturally I asked myself, is there enough titles I could read one per day for a whole year?

Well, I am about to find out and when I have my list complete, I’ll share it and start this new endeavor.

Off to seek things to read.

(Y-11) this morning reading and some unexpected birthday presents

I have wait out this morning in the house.

So, I’ll take the opportunity to read with a few cups of coffee and try to chip away as much as I can.

I’ll keep on going with Blood &Fire, which is amazing, including the great artwork by Doug Wheatley.

Also, the fourth volumen of Hellboy, The Right Hand of Doom, the Spanish translation, which hopefully will cover the whole collection of this amazing comic book, I’m still waiting for the fifth volume to come out.

Finally, I received a couple of amazing gifts from my friends.

A cup of those late night sessions.

And a couple of mini journals to keep on planning things for this blog.

Well now off to read.

(Y-11) tonight’s reading session

I will try to chip away at my time and pages and start the weekend with a good rhythm.

So, I’ll dip my head into one of my favorite stomping grounds, the universe of Sandman, created by my all time favorite author Neil Gaiman, and for these particular new series,he gave the creative reigns to some really amazing teams.

I’ll continue with the Lucifer series, written by Dan Watters and illustrated by Max and Sebastian Fiumara.

As the previous spinoff series of the Prince of Darkness, written by the amazing Mike Carey, this new adventure promises big things.

now off to read.

(Y-11) Old School Monday…Eternals (1976-1978) # 1

Hello again, as last Monday, today I pick up an comic released before 1981.

This time it was Eternals by the legendary writer and illustrator Jack Kirby, if you are not familiar with the “King”, well let’s say that he helped, along with Stan Lee, shaped comic-books as we know them.

This series is about some celestial beings than have come to earth as protector of humanity from their arch nemesis The Deviants.

This issue introduces The Eternals as this ancient mythological beings and a bit of their purpose and origin.

In the picture below you can catch some reminiscent of the Incan culture in the temple of the Eternals.

Jack Kirby’s style is so peculiar and original that you can see the influence still today.

Although this was a very short issue, only 17 pages, it gives you enough to pull you into the vast mythology of this elusive group of “superheroes”, which, are rumored to play a big role in the upcoming Marvel cinematic universe movies.

But until that becomes official you can read the complete series by Mr.Kirby, or, the 2006 series by Neil Gaiman and John Romita Jr.

Both available at Comixology.

For next Monday I will read the first issue from 1972 of Swamp Thing.

Now I’m off to read and enjoy the soothing sound of rain.

(Y-11) start again

I have finished the second week of my intense reading vacation period, and again I fell short.

On the page front my total was 1,411 pages of the 2,480 I plan to read each week for the entire summer vacation.

And, on the time front, I read for 12 hours and 41 minutes, an impressive feat, but not quite where I want to be.

But today starts a new week and I’m ready to go.

Later on I’ll post my old school Monday entry.

Off to read

(Y-11) not so hot

Entering the last day of this week of reading I find myself again lacking a lot of my goals.

I’ll power thru this day and see what comes out of it.

Now to read some of the Targaryen Family History

(Y-11) close out with a bang

I have reached the halfway point of my goal for this week of reading.

So, I need to finish strong and read my ass off this weekend.

I shall start with my favorite comic book, Hellboy, volumes three and four.

That should boost my confidence.

Off to read.

(Y-11) some of today’s reading

Early this morning, while having my first caffeine injection of the day, I read the second volume of Hit-Girl’s solo series, this time she visits the great white north,Canada, which is consequently the native country of the writer of this volume, Jeff Lemire.

And at the helm of the art is the Argentinian illustrator Eduardo Risso.

As always Hit-Girl delivers a bloody good time.

The rest of the day went between planning and reading some of the Targaryen family history.

I’ll continue with the fifth volume of DC Comics Rebirth Batman, with the always impressive work of Tom King.

Off to read.

(Y-11) Working and reading

Right now, I am between reading and working on new sections for this blog.

The newest one will be a set of lists

The 100

In which, I’ll set out to read, in different genres, to start it will be fantasy, fiction and graphic novels.

100 books that have been floating around my head for a while, the difference in this new section is that it will contain not a review, but rather what stands out or what I find compelling about the book.

I have already started with my fantasy list.

Off to read.
