(Y-9) the final night

So, at last the end of this year read is upon me.

I’m going to take this last night and try to finish the final book of this almost extinct year.

With some coffee and chocolate I’ll save good bye and say hello to the most demanding year yet.

Tomorrow, I’ll post my final page count, images of the first book on the year and my new bullet journal that will keep me on track with my reading.

Good night and Happy Readings!!!

(Y-9) 2 days…

For my final task of this year of reading I decided to tackle the latest Star Wars novel I bought, Aftermath.

With two days left in this year and 250 pages to go on the book I think I’ll finish off this year with a bang.

So, 250 pages, two nights, challenge accepted.

Also I’m really excited because today my new mini-journals arrived.

Just in time to start this year of reading bullet journal.

Many things to come.

Happy Readings!!!

(Y-9) 3,288 days later

Can’t believe I started this journey more than 9 years ago.

It has been really rewarding and at times a great source of comfort.

As I get ready to tackle a new year I start to project numbers and start to see the true depth of how far behind I really am.

So here is what I come to affectionately named Panic Calculations.

3,288 days since I begin Lost in a Million Pages

200,798 total pages read.

61 average of pages read per day.

16,360  days will take me to read 1,000,000 pages (with the aforementioned average).

friday 25 of July 2053 will be the date I will finish with my crazy journey (again, considering my average).

72 years, 1 month and 20 days will be my age at that date.

Some 22 years later that my original goal.

As you can see I have a great deal of road ahead of me.

And with 96,756 pages looming in the horizon for (Y-10), its do or die time.

So, wish me an uninterrupted flow of books, caffeine, and long nights with excellent lighting.

Happy Readings!!!

P.S.

On the night of Friday the 13th of October, I’ll post the final page count and raise a glass for dwindling year.

(Y-9) 8 days…more books

Well today my goal shelves are really happy.

Because when I got home from work a package from amazon had arrived.

And it contain 7 books from the Drizzt Saga. One of the main titles to read on (Y-10)

Now I have 17 of the 30 books in my list for next year reading.

Just eager to take on my biggest reading task of this crazy project.

Now back to reading and drinking coffee.

(Y-9) memories, Nobel prize and Bob Dylan.

As I watched this year Nobel laureate memories came flooding back.

I remember vividly almost a year ago talking to my dad, as we did all early mornings, and talked about Dylan winning the Nobel.

He told me it was not that big of a surprise, and I quote him, ” his lyric are pure poetry” .

Later that day I send a video of Dylan performing his favorite song, Like a Rolling Stone. He got so fired up when he heard it, I guess it remained him of we he was young.

Well here I’m, blasting Dylan and holding on to this precious memories.

(Y-9) Nobel prize in literature 2017

It was announced earlier this morning that the recipient for this year prize is English author Kazuo Ishiguro.

Some of his most notorious work are: Never Let Me Go, The Remains of the Day and The Buried Giant, this last one I had my eye for sometime, Arthurian myth what more can you ask for.

You can see the announcement here.

Well back to it.

Happy Readings!!!

(Y-9) 10 days….Book Fair and more planning.

Just a few more days and this year is done.

I finally finished reading Star Wars: Tyrant’s Test and started reading what will be the final of (Y-9), Star Wars: Aftermath, so far it has been pretty good, pure Star Wars fun.

Sunday was the last day of the Book Fair, so, I went by early to see if something grabbed my eye, and being books the obvious answer is of course, yes.

Right now the total page count for (Y-9) is 17,255.

My hope is that I’ll finish this year with at least 18,000 and have the monumental task of 95,000 pages for (Y-10).

For now, my main focus is to try and give a little boost to this year total and keep on hoarding read material for next year.

Happy Readings!!!

(Y-9) 15 days….. new books and the international coffee day

The last two weeks of this reading year.

I will focus on my only remaining book and beef up that total number for the year.

Of course to do that I’ll need my old friends, comic books.

A lot has been going on this week, but the main thing is the State Book Fair is in full swing.

And that brings me to the highlight of the week, on Wednesday my multi-talented wife presented, on said Book Fair, her latest book endeavor, oh yes her latest, this being her second book in print.

The newest one is a photographic memoir of a very particular landmark found in our city, the border. And do mean the physical space between the United States and Mexico.

Filled with beautiful black and white photos, mostly taken by local artist Luis Pegut, the book tries to recapture all the stories hidden in the sands if the Rio Grande.

I couldn’t feel prouder of this beautiful piece of art celebrating our beloved city.

On Sunday, being the last day of the Book Fair, will go back and see what goodies we can find.

For now, I started hoarding some Legend of Drizzt books for next year total epicness, pictures coming as soon as they arrive.

Well, being the international coffee day I think I’ll celebrate by brewing some in my french press.

Cheers everybody and Happy Readings!!!!

(Y-9) 18 days….

The inevitable finally has come to pass.

I finally had put down Jerusalem by Alan Moore.

I’m really not in a mindset to give it proper attention.

For the remaining days I’ll focus on finishing Star Wars: Tyrants Test and Fight Club 2.

And give way to total epicness for (Y-10).

Making lists and planning how in hell am I going to read 97,000 pages.

I’ll find a way.

Happy Readings!!!
