(Y-11) closing in

With little over a week from the start of the 24in48 Readathon, I decided that for the next few days there will be no clocks and only two goals.

The first is to finish Memories of Ice by July 19, in the morning.

And the second task is to replenish my junk food stash for the upcoming reading sessions.

Off to read.

(Y-11) Old school Monday… All-Star Comics #8

Hello, and welcome to another installment of Old School Monday.

For this occasion I read the issue that had the privilege to be the first appearance of iconic character Wonder Woman.

Originally released on the last day of 1941, it introduces us to Princess Diana and Paradise Island, and the turn of events that lead her to leave the peaceful island.

This origin story expands to Sensation Comics # 1 and eventually to the first issue of her solo comic, Wonder Woman, which I’ll read the following weeks.

As an added bonus this issue also features the Justice Society of America, including some of my favorite characters like Sandman and Spectre.

I love this type of comic and the way they establish a graphic standard for storytelling for generations to come.

For now, I’ll go back to trying to chip away some pages of Memories of Ice.

Today I start my final stretch of my year of reading, the 100 day march.

I’ll try to intensify my progress, and hopefully, at the end of this trek, I’ll achieve my coveted goal.

(Y-11) happy, happy, joy, joy

It’s official, this morning, I surpassed my total reading for last, which was my second best year with a total of 32,148 pages.

Right now I have a total 32,208 pages, 60 more than last year, and with 101 days to go on my reading year, I aim to at least bring down my best year of reading, the first one with a total of 47,705 pages.

I’m up for the challenge.

In news of my overall progress, I gained some ground on my total reading for this year, right now I am 44 days behind schedule, but steadily gaining ground.

Concerning reaching 500,000 pages, I am currently estimating January 4, 2029, as the finishing date, that is almost 7 months earlier than when I originally started estimating my progress.

I still have a lot of work ahead of me, but I am motivated as hell.

(Y-11) My 24in48 Readathon Schedule

With little over two weeks to go for the start of the 24in48 Readathon, I have my reading schedule ready to roll.

Because of the time zone issue, the official start is at midnight of Saturday in Eastern Daylight Time and I am on Mountain Daylight Time, which is two hours ahead.

So, I will start at 10 p.m. of Friday night, and read 11 hours Saturday and Sunday.

Here is my schedule.

Hopefully this time I’ll read the 24 hours.

(Y-11) pretty close

I am only 495 pages to surpass last year total, 32,619 pages.

And when I do this year will officially become my second best year of reading.

The goal for this year is 53,000 pages, and with almost 4 months to go,I am pretty confident that I’ll get there, or at least break the record of my best year, a little over 47,000 pages.

For today’s reading I will finish the second volume of Dragonero and try to advance as much as I can with Memories of Ice.

Off to read.

(Y-11) Sunday of making lists and new comics.

I spent this morning reading for awhile and making plans for the rest.

I finally finished the first 100 list of books, for this occasion it was for fantasy.

I’ll start with Fiction probably sometime next week.

The other great thing about today is that my special order of the Italian graphic novel, in it’s Spanish version, Dragonero.

I am still missing some issues, three to be exact, but they will arrive soon.

Plenty of new material.

Off to read.

(Y-11) The Dreaming before sleep

I’ll close out my reading day with a little over 15 hours on my reading clock and probably closing in on 700 pages for this week.

Tonight’s repertoire will include numbers seven and eight of the current run by Simon Spurrier on The Dreaming, part of the Sandman Universe.

And the latest numbers of DC Heroes in Crisis, numbers five thru eight.

Off to read.

(Y-11) last stretch of the night

As I enter the final hours of the day, there is still some 17 plus hours to go on my weekly reading clock.

I could chip away almost 3 hours, and hopefully I’ll slip another one before I succumb to sleep.

Right now I’m reading Grant Morrison’s Doom Patrol and the third book of The Malazan Book of the Fallen, Memories of Ice.

Lets see how much I can achieve.

Off to read.
