(Y-12) Quarantined days, Update 12

I have been so focused on finishing the fifth volume of the Malazan Book of the Fallen, that I didn’t remember to update my progress.

I am glad to say that I finished yesterday, and to say that this series has an epic scope is not quite making it justice, the book closes on a cliffhanger, as war unravels, so the schemes of the gods.

I have approached this series as I did a challenging steep hike thru the mountains, used to practice hiking with plans of doing it again, one ascend at a time, with the top always on sight, and most importantly knowing my limits.

It is because of this that I’ll take a break from the series to catch my breath.

I’ll go to the Forgotten Realms, and read the adventures of Farideh on Erin M. Evans’ The Adversary, the third chapter of the multi-author series The Sundering.

On my journey to reach 40,000 pages on this year of reading, I am 6,068 pages away and have 44 days to do it.

For now, I am off to read.

(Y-12) The Companions

I just finished reading the second book of this year of reading, The Companions by R.A. Salvatore, the first book of The Sundering, a multiple author story set in the magical land of Faerûn.

In this first novel, and to much to my delight, we see some of my favorite fantastic characters, part of the Companions of the Hall, wake up in a magical forest, and become appointed by the goddess Mielikki to come back from their rest, and walk the treacherous paths leading to the white tundra knowed as the Icewind Dale.

This with the purpose of reuniting, after a century of absence, with the legendary drow ranger, Drizzt Do’Urden.

I won’t give more away, but all I can say is that the book made me cry at the end, and Catti-brie kick even more ass.

I recommend you grab all of the Legend of Drizzt saga, one of the best fantasy series ever written.

I am off to read, and try to balance my reading schedule, because I have fallen behind.

(Y-12) Epic Sagas, or, how I refuse to stop reading fantasy novels

The original plan for this year was to finish the leftover books from last year TBR pile, and then focusing on some new science fiction books

Well scratch than, I am going to continue the epicness for another year.

To start off, I’ll continue with The Companions by R.A. Salvatore, and continue with the other 4 books that comprise The Sundering Saga.

Then jump back into Genabackis, yo start the fifth volume of the Malazan Book of the Fallen, Midnight Tides.

And to top off the year, I’ll go into the fantastical world of Krynn, and the Dragonlance novels.

What a fantastical year I have before me.

Off to read.
