Final Reading Session

I almost completed the 24 hours on the readathon, logged 20 hours, and for my first time, I think it went great.

I won’t lie, it is exhausting but really rewarding.

So here are the final numbers.

20 hours of reading.

23 graphic novels finished.

199 pages of The Name of the Wind

3,147 total pages.

Tomorrow I’ll post where I stand on my goals for this year of reading, but right now I need to rest.

Reading Session IV

I’m sorry that this post was not made right after I finished the session but exhaustion for the best of me.

Right now I am at the halfway point of my total reading hours and this last session was a bit more modest, 1 graphic novel, some progress with The Name of the Wind, and 218 pages.

I’ll start the final day of reading in about 5 minutes and hopefully I’ll get the 24 hours of reading or at least come really close.

Happy Readings

p.s.

my total pages for the 12 hours of reading is 2,164, not to bad.

Reading Session III

Another great reading session is on the books.

For this one my total of pages was 795 and 5 graphic novels, all of them of the event Rebirth of DC Comics.

With this I have racked up 9 hours of total reading and still have 15 hours ahead of me.

In about 1 hour I’ll start with the final reading session of the day.

I’m going to focus on The Name of the Wind and start reading the critically acclaimed series of Scott Pilgrim.

Happy Readings, I’ll rest my eyes for awhile.

I consider this was a really successful session.

My total is of 10 graphic novels and 1,068 pages.

You can see the reading material in the pictures below.

I am going to take a break to regroup, eat something and rest my eyes for a while.

The third session will be dedicated to DC Comics Rebirth event and The Name of Wind.

(Y-10) 85 days… the day has finally come

I am only 40 minutes away to start a weekend long reading session.

I will be participating in the amazing readathon 24 in 48, that is read 24 hours in a period of 48 hours.

So, my schedule goes as seen in the pictures below.

Because of the geographical location of the organizers of this event, the official starting time will be at midnight eastern standard time of Saturday July the 21st, that is 2 hours ahead of my Mountain standard time time zone, I will begin at 10 p.m. of today, to coincide with the the blow of the event.

I have already prep my reading Stack, have massive amounts of coffee and a few snacks to fuel my reading.

So I’m of to the races, I’ll be posting an entry after each reading session and capture little moments on Twitter.

You can find me with the handle @azriel_d and be on the lookout for the hashtags #24in48 and #readathon .

Well, I’m off to make the last minutes adjustments .

Happy Readings!!!

(Y-10) 12 years and 364 days

Yesterday I turned 37 and with that the clock on my crazy little project keeps on ticking .

Now I have little under 13 years to complete my task and a whole lot of pages left to read.

Right now I’m still enjoying the week-long celebration, but I wanted to share some of my new goodies that are now gracing my bookshelves.

My plan is to continue throughout next year with my “total epicness” reading, including, for next year, a deep dive into the world of one of my all time favorite characters, Hellboy.

After these two epic years the next task will be to read some authors with the distinction of receiving a Nobel or a Pulitzer prize, hence the Dylan, McCarthy and Alexievich additions to my collection.

For now I’ll just enjoy the rest of my week of celebraction, for which I am really thankful of being surrounded by so much love, and try to squeeze in some reading.

Back to it then.

(Y-10) I won’t say goodbye, I’ll say fare thee well..

Well, our little getaway has come to an end, but it was really what I needed, some sun, some wind, some wine (actually lots of it) and most of all some peaceful time away from the daily grind.

As posted on the last entry my first stop was White Sand National Monument, after soaking some sun, we spent the night in Alamogordo.

The next day, after a much-needed rest, we went and visit one of our childhood staples, The New Mexico Museum of Space History, it sits high on a hill with some glorious mountains to frame its 4 stories of space exploration.

It was entertaining getting lost between space suits, rocket models, and even a special Star Trek exhibition.

After a few hours of perusing we headed to our next destination, Ruidoso, tuck away in the beautiful Lincoln National Forest, indeed a bastion of peace and quiet.

The first afternoon was dedicated to doing nothing at all, just some reading, which, consequently, I finally finished reading The Servant of the Shard, and enjoying our excellent accommodations.

The Second day we did some light exploring, went to Grindstone Lake, walked the Ruidoso River Trail and finished the day with some wine tasting at the fantastic Noisy Water Winery, in which an accommodating staff walked us through their different varieties and even gave us a taste of their signature green chile wine.

I bought some bottles and hope to write about them shortly.

In all, it was a great outing and just what I needed to get ready for the next phase of my upcoming plans.

Tomorrow, I’ll post an update on my total pages and my progress with this year full of epicness,

Happy Readings!!!

(Y-10) On the road

The first day of our getaway was an astounding success.

We visited the gorgeous National Park of White Sands in New Mexico.

I’m in love with the desert, it calls to me quite strongly and being surrounded by such breath taking beauty it just make my day.

We walked bare footed in the smooth pure white sand and reconnected with nature, which, if you ask me, was long overdue.

So, day one is done, now to relax, get some rest and read for a while.

Anxious to what tomorrow stores.

happy readings!!!
