(24in48 readathon) Reading hangover

My 24in48 readathon was a complete success.

This time around I completed the 24 hours and read some amazing books.

My total in pages was 2,960, this thanks to 16 graphic novels, 1 book and about 175 pages from Memories of Ice, yeah still working on that behemoth.

Here is the complete list:

Books

  • Apocrifa
  • Memories of Ice (from page 589 to 764)

Graphic Novels

  • Principe Valiente (1938)
  • Principe Valiente (1939)
  • Principe Valiente (1940)
  • Hellboy Vol. 5
  • Hellboy Vol. 6
  • The Crow Midnight Legends Vol. 1
  • The Crow Midnight Legends Vol. 2
  • The Crow Midnight Legends Vol. 3
  • Batman (DC Comics Rebirth) Vol. 6
  • Persepolis
  • Pathfinder: Goblins!
  • Giant Days Vol. 1
  • The Spire
  • Lumberjanes Vol.1
  • Underwater Welder
  • Sweet Tooth Book One

As I was saying, a total success.

Also, it greatly helped my year of reading.

I now have a total of 35,788 pages for this the eleventh year of reading, still have 17, 212 pages left on this year’s goal and 83 days to do it.

On things concerning my reading schedule and my next big milestone, 500,000 pages, this intense reading session was of great help.

I am 38 days behind schedule, down from 53 days the last time I checked, and my calculated date for reaching the 500,000 page milestone moved from January 10, 2029, to October 31, 2028.

That is 72 days of progress.

All in all, I am very happy with the results, I’ll take the rest of the morning off, and read my Old School Monday comic book and I’ll see you later.

Off to read… well in a little while.

I am glad yo inform that this time around the goal of reading 24 hours in a period of 48 hours was achieved.

It is a really demanding and satisfying challenge, and in this my third time, I participated I finally got to my goal.

For now I’ll unwind with some sotol and rest my eyes for a bit.

Off to….sleep.

(24in48 readathon) second update

I have been reading for 7 hours and 24 minutes, a little behind schedule but I am confident that I’ll achieve the 14 hours.

I am closing in on 1,000 total pages read, and I plan too at least read 3,000 total pages.

I have finished 8 graphic novels, read some of Memories of Ice and I am about to start with the second part of Apócrifa.

My next update will be when I cross the halfway point.

Off to read.

(Y-11) a test run

I’m having one of my last long reading sessions, a sort of warm up for tomorrow’s grand event.

And of course I am chipping away at Memories of Ice, which I am aiming to finish it on Saturday afternoon.

As you can see above, I have about 9 hours left of reading, and I’ll try to push that down to close to 7 hours by the time I start my readathon.

For now,I’ll squeeze one last reading session before I succumb to Morpheus.

Off to read.

(Y-11) and then, craziness followed.

As I am preparing to embark on the 24in48 readathon, I came across another reading challenge for the next week.

Reading Rush is comprised of 7 challenges, one for each day of the week, and it starts on July 22 and runs until July 28, so I thought, why not close out my vacation period with a bang

Hopefully I can finish this two challenges, is going to be grueling, but I’m up for it.

Also, I could not finish Memories of Ice, so, I’ll squeeze it in my weekend of reading.

Now, off to read.

(Y-11) pounding away.

With two days to go for the start of the 24in48 readathon, I keep on reading and adding books to my TBR pile.

Right now I have downloaded 10 graphic novels on my Kindle Unlimited account, you can only have 10 at one time, and I will probably read them on Saturday afternoon.

Right now, I’ll keep on chipping away at Memories of Ice, currently on page 544 of 913, and hopefully I’ll get it done before the start of the readathon.

I have to say that this book has been amazing, and if you are planning to read The Malazan Book of the Fallen, keep in mind that the first two books are quite dense and help to establish the intricate world, but it’s all worth it.

In between all of this reading and planning, I took some time to go to the children’s museum of Ciudad Juárez, obviously with my two kids and my lovely wife.

The museum’s is one of our favourite places in town and as always we had and awesome time.

I’ll get back to my reading, some time I’ll devote to the book and in between some graphic novels time, I’ll read the rest of The Pathfinder Collections I have in my digital collection.

Off to read.

(Y-11) Last report of the day

Today was a Feng Shui kind of day around the house, so we did a little tidy up, which is never fun, but on the bright side, I have now some extra shelf space, so hurray for that.

I’ll keep on working on Memories of Ice, and hopefully I’ll get it done by early morning Friday, just in time for the 24in48 readathon.

Right now, as you can see, I’m closing in on 400 pages.

And that will be my goal for the day.

Off to read.

(Y-11) new comic books and back to reality

This passed week I did not read as much as usual.

I was taking a break to recharge some batteries and go visit an old friend, the sea.

It was quite relaxing and I enjoyed catching some sun and eating.

Beautiful scenery to be really enjoy, thus my lack of a great progress, but have no fear, because next weekend, I’ll devote myself to the 24in48 readathon and it will be really productive.

Right now I am working on Memories of Ice, because I want to be done by early Friday morning and start with my readathon with a couple of short novels from a Mexican editorial house, Paraiso Perdido, but more on that later.

For now I’ll use my new comic book acquisitions as a palate cleanser, this time it will be issue number six of Justice League Dark and the ninth and final issue of DC Heroes in Crisis.

Off to read.
