(Y-11) 12 years to go

Today it officially marks the 12 years left notification until the deadline to achieve 1,000,000 pages.

This is because, today, I turn 38 years old.

And since the whole idea of this crazy project is to read that gargantuan amount before my 50th birthday, well there you go, the clock strike again, and I have only 12 years ahead.

Today I received some more awesome material to keep on piling up those numbers.

Three pretty cool new graphic novels

And to put the cherry on the cake, some awesome new kicks, one of my favorite things, besides books and coffee of course.

Brings me back to the days when I watch his airness dominate the court.

Now I’ll enjoy the last few hours of the day and read some more.

(Y-11) keep on trekking thru DC Comics

I finished reading the third volume of Hope Larson’s run on Batgirl, part of the Rebirth of DC comics universe.

Rekindling some old flames, I was greatly impress with this book, give it a chance, it will not disappoint.

Next, I’ll jump back into some Green Lantern action.

And with appearance of the New Gods, could it get any better.

Off to read.

(Y-11) finally… a numbers update

The end of my semester in my Master’s Degree was pretty hectic, so I did not have time to properly update my list and see how my year of reading was faring.

So here are my numbers right down the minute.

Total pages for (Y-11) : 28,468 pages.
Pages to next milestone (30,000 pages): 1,532 pages.
Pages to the main goal of the year (53,000 pages): 24,532 pages.
Pages to the second-best year of reading (32,149 pages): 3,681 pages.
Pages to the best year of reading (47,705 pages): 19,237 pages.
Pages to 500,000 : 238,505 pages.

I had some major leaps, but I am still 40 days behind schedule, but there is no time like the present to amend that.

On the front of reaching the coveted 500,000 pages, I had some great progress, I was able to close the gap, minus 53 days, which gives me a new ending date of February 23, 2029.

Still, it is too far into the future, but slowly the gap closes, before my next update and recalculation, I hope to jump into 2028.

But for that, I need to read, so on that note, is back to reading.

(Y-11) we are flying now.

I am coming off a 327 pages day.

And I feel energized.

Right now I have finished the second volume of Hope Larson run on Batgirl, in this particular volume she confronts the son of the Penguin, and maybe a new super villain will raise from his shard remains, I’ll gave to wait and see.

I’m working on the update of my list, so I’ll know what is the final total of pages read.

Have I crossed the 27,000 pages mark?

I guess will see.

(Y-11) tonight’s reading

I’m starting to pick-up the pace.

Today, I was reading some graphic novels based on the fantastic world of Dark Crystal, in case you didn’t see it, Netflix, just announced a 10-part series, Age of Resistance , coming out on August 30

So, I had to get back to it’s mythological beginnings.

For tonight my reading will consist of a couple of issues of the DC comics series Heroes in Crisis.

And I’ll keep chipping away at Fire & Blood.

And hopefully tomorrow I can finally fo an pages update.

I just realized that I haven’t post any if my general or this year’s total numbers in quite a bit.

And with a couple of days until my limit date to achieve 27,000 pages for this year, I’ll better update my lists.

(Y-11) Old School Monday…Green Lantern (1960-1986) #1

Welcome to the new addition to this blog.

Old School Monday.

In which, I’ll read a classic comic, the only condition here is that it has to be one that is prior to the year I was born, 1981.

To start off this new and exciting section I read one of my favorite comic books of all time, Green Lantern.

Written by John Broome and Murphy Anderson, we get to experience Hal Jordan getting the hang of his new powers, given to him by Abin Sur, and traveling to far away planet to install the Green Lanterns help.

In the helms of the artwork there is a legendary team of artist, Murphy Anderson, Joe Giella and Gil Kane.

Some of my favorite things of this classic comics, and something you don not see often in modern comics, is the thought bubbles of the characters, describing their deep concerns.

I found this issue on Comixology, I think some of the upcoming old school entries will be on digital form, except if I find some reprints.

The next Monday I will be entering the fascinating world of The Eternals, by the legendary artist and writer Jack Kirby.

I’m starting to read the first volume of the Spanish translation of Prince Valiant, each volume will cover a year of the weekly publications, and the whole collection will be 75 volumes.

I have the first two and tomorrow, hopefully, the third one will be in stores, they are coming out approximately every two weeks.

Let us begin this journey.

I go into the last day with 1,237 pages and about 11 hours.

Hence, the impossible task.

I’ll enjoy the last day and see how this thing plays out.

(Y-11) productive day

Today was a very cool one.

Although I could not read that much, I went and see some panels in the book fair and finally got to see the new exhibition in the museum of art.

For this last one, the exhibition has to do with the natural process of color dyeing, it is call Cromática by artist Tania Candiani, if you are in Ciudad Juarez, go check it.
