(Y-11) tonight’s reading

For tonight’s repertoire, I’ll go back to the Dreaming, trek thru the badlands of Genabackis and try not to invoke the wrath of Phoenix.

But I’ll start in the Dream Lands.

Sweet Dreams.

(Y-11) Time to flex

I just achieved a couple of great things this weekend.

Finished with Fire & Blood, just one half of the Targaryen family history in Westeros, and with that I just got passed 30,000 pages for this year of reading.

I still have 23,000 pages in front of me, but I am ready to put on my reading glasses and get shit done.

Right now I will go back to Genabackis and continue to follow the epic story of The Malazan Book of the Fallen, now it will be the third volume, Memories of Ice.

I hope to finish this volume and the next two by the end of the summer.

This combined with lots of comic books.

Now back to reading, because those 900 pages are not going to read themselves

(Y-11) Old School Monday…The New Gods (1971-1978) #1

As every Monday, I have read an old comic book from the top creators of the field.

And this week was no exception.

One of the coolest creation of the ever-cool Jack Kirby is The New Gods, a group of celestial characters from the DC Comics who are the inhabitants if New Genesis, they are looking for balance thru the universe.

In this particular issue we see Orion, one of the fiercest warriors of New Genesis, return home.

Where he uncovers a plot of one of the most infamous villains of all the universe, Darkseid.

Armed with an equation known as “Anti-Life”, see the series Final Crisis, which it can negate existence, Orion must stop Darkseid’s plan to destroy the universe.

These characters have appeared in other comic books, I recently read an story arc involving them with the Green Lantern Corps.

Also, I reccomend you read the limited run by legend Jim Starlin, The Death of the New Gods, it wouldn’t disappoint.

For next week, I’ll go back to the first appearance of the emerald knight.

Now off to prepare a new post with some of my plans and numbers for the upcoming week.

(Y-11) Between rocks and places filled with memories

I needed to disconnect and reconnect.

And there no better way than to go back to my beloved desert.

I did some wandering around, read for a bit, but most of all enjoyed nature.

So, no worries about pages or clocks, just time to be in the moment.

Now I’ll try to finish Fire & Blood and keep on enjoying my time.

(Y-11) ready for the weekend

I spent all my day dancing with dragons, and as I enter the weekend, I have little over 100 pages to go on Fire & Blood.

I plan to finish it by tomorrow and dive back into The Malazan Book of the Fallen.

I’ll make up in time and pages read on the weekend, as I enjoy a little get away.

Off to read.

Today I went to pick up some new issues, here in Mexico, new comic book day is on Thursday, well most of the time, we are still getting the hang of things.

My new bounty is made up of Justice League Dark #5, The Batman Who Laughs #3, Heroes in Crisis #7 and the fifth volume of Hellboy, Conqueror Worm.

They will be on stand by, because I am totally focused on finishing Fire & Blood, currently on page 510, little under 200 to go.

Off to read.

(Y-11) feels like a pizza, red wine and reading kind of day.

I am still dancing with dragons, right now I am on page 494, still my plan is to finish it before Saturday afternoon.

So, I’ll ask assistance to my loyal friends, wine and pizza, and enjoy an afternoon of reading.

The other pleasant surprise is that, although my birthday was two weeks ago, the presents are still pouring in, this time in the form of Elantris by Brandon Sanderson.

Now off to read, but first pancakes.
